Lamont Snags First Endorsement From NOW

by: BranfordBoy

Tue May 16, 2006 at 17:01:57 PM EDT

As expected, NOW has come out strongly for Ned Lamont in the U.S. Senate race. It's the first endorsement for Ned and, as he himself said, "I needed it."

This should put the fear of God into the nominally feminist state politicians who have backed Joe leading up to the convention. I think they deserve to pay a price for joining Joe in turning their backs against women. The polling place  knows no fury like an activist women's organization's scorn -- or something like that.

This endorsement will have ramifications that belie the low-key event at which it was announced. NOW's involvement is getting attention from ABC Nightly News, which sees the Lamont campaign as a bellwether for a seismic shift among the Democratic  rank and file who are finally saying "Enough!" to the failed and discredited tactics of the Begalas and Carvilles and Clintons (Hillary division) of the world.

Neal Fink was there with Connecticut Bob's video camera. Look for video later on Connecticut Bob and, hopefully, here.

I'll try to post a transcript of Ned's remarks.

NOW-PAC Endorses Lamont For U.S. Senate

by: BranfordBoy

Mon May 15, 2006 at 20:29:46 PM EDT

Tomorrow, the National Organization for Women's Political Action Committee (NOW-PAC) will announce its endorsement of Ned Lamont for the United States Senate.

How do I know? Well, I don't exactly. Larkspur has provided the NOW press release about "this important endorsement." No specifics are given.

But the way I see it, if NOW endorses Joe Lieberman, they might as well change the name of the organization to NOGS -- National Organization for Gracious Submission.

Drop by the Soromundi Room at the YWCA, 135 Broad Street, in Hartford tomorrow (Tues) at 1 p.m. to see if I got it right.
