Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani (right) with U.S. Senator John McCain (second left) and Senator Joe Lieberman during a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday. Mr. McCain was on a daylong visit to Pakistan.
Hard to say if this was a relayed message or just wish-fulfillment on the part of McCain and Lieberman to begin the nuclear holocaust...
I'm joking. Right?
And in what capacity are these clowns authorized to embark on diplomatic missions to start wars?
ISLAMABAD: United States Senator John McCain has said there is enough evidence of the involvement of former Inter-Services Intelligence officers in the planning and execution of the Mumbai attacks.
If Pakistan did not act swiftly to arrest the people involved, the Senator said, India would be left with no option but to conduct aerial operations against select targets in Pakistan.
Senator McCain, the Republican presidential candidate who lost to Barack Obama, told a select group of Pakistanis at an informal lunch in Lahore on Saturday that this was conveyed to him by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi.
Ejaz Haider, a senior editor at the Daily Times, who was at the lunch said Mr. McCain told the group that Washington would not be able to do much to stop India, as the Mumbai attacks were its "9/11."
"The democratic government of India is under pressure and it will be a matter of days after they have given the evidence to Pakistan [that they decide] to use the option of force if Islamabad fails to act against the terrorists," Mr. Haider quoted the Senator as saying.
Mr. McCain, who arrived in Pakistan from New Delhi on Friday and met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad in the evening, told the group that Dr. Singh was "visibly angry and reeling from the shock of the attacks."
He said if Pakistan did not act to get the "bad guys," India would have no option but to use force.
Lieberman lies and lies again. And when Shelly Sindland calls him on the lying, Lieberman just lies some more. But it doesn't matter to him, simply because he's never had to pay any real price for the years of lies and the backstabbing. That's just politics to Joe Lieberman. And not surprising in the slightest is the ass-kissing of Barack Obama. Expect his lips to be firmly planted there for the foreseeable future.
So what happens when you as a presidential candidate parody what is already the farce of your own campaign? You get something like this. To my eyes this looks like a FU sendoff to Sarah Palin.
FEY AS PALIN - "So instead of going to one of those elite department stores with their liberal agendas and over-priced items and their gotcha return policies that violate your First Amendment rights, why not do your holiday shopping with us? (SHE turns to a different camera) Okay, listen up everybody, I am goin' rogue right now so keep your voices down. Available now, we got a buncha' these 'Palin in 2012' T-shirts. Just try and wait until after Tuesday to wear 'em okay? Because I'm not goin' anywhere. And I'm certainly not goin' back to Alaska. If I'm not goin' to the White House, I'm either runnin' in four years or I'm gonna be a white Oprah so, you know, I'm good either way."
MCCAIN - "What's going on over there, Sarah?"
FEY AS PALIN - "Oh...just talkin' about taxes." (SHE winks)
I haven't written here in a while, I'm down in VA and recently started wrighting at RaisingKaine. But I had to share this with you all:
Today I attended the Obama rally at James Madison University in Virginia. Outside one of the buildings that was showing the speech was a tiny McCain rally. I figured that I would drop in decked out in Obama gear and see what was going on. One of the speakers accused Obama of planning to outlaw (literally outlaw, video of that coming soon) the national anthem. At that point I laughed and said, "That's ridiculous." Someone came over and confronted me, as it turns out it was the paid, local Field Organizer for the McCain campaign. Here is the video of our chat:
Talk to them about the candidates. Teach them a bit about the policies of the candidates. Even a little political talk around the dinner table can be enough to spark their interest. After having them vote in the poll bring them in to volunteer for the campaign if they are old enough. Take them canvassing. Take them to a debate. Take them to see you vote.It is the best lesson in civic responsibility they will ever get. Take them out for a beer afterwards. ERRRRP! Ok, scratch that last one.
Just get them involved now so they will know what to do when they are older.
Teach them to VOTE!
Results for the Nick poll will be viewable on Monday. Results in your kids will be viewable immediately.
She's reveling in the ugliest corner of her party's support. Rallies over the past week have featured backers yelling racial epithets, calling Obama a terrorist and worse. She has shown not the slightest indication any of this was a problem for her. (Nor, it should be noted, has a certain Connecticut senator on stage with her at a few of these events.)
America's least favorite "Hockey Mom" received a less than stellar welcome at last night's Flyers game. No matter how hard they tried to drown out the boo's with the booming PA music it was clear she didn't get the type of reception Flyers owner Ed Snider and big McCain backer had hoped for.
Political campaign yard signs for Democratic candidates were vandalized over the weekend. The signs for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and Jim Himes were crossed off with red paint, while nearby signs for Republican candidates were left untouched.
Going out with a can of paint and defacing private property -- isn't that the kind of inner-city crime that Republicans always seem to be complaining about? Now, these supporters of Chris Shays and John McCain have become petty criminals. I bet this went over well in Westport.
If you notice someone, messing with a lawn sign, get the license plate number of the offender and call your local police department. Because it's against the law:
Although the plastic signs are worth very little in a financial sense, defacing or removing them is technically third-degree criminal mischief. Under Connecticut law, this is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Lieberman is so proud that John McCain is such a "honorable man" [ha!] that he's drawn the line on bringing up garbage guilt by association attacks. Except that he hasn't, nor has his attack poodle Sarah Palin.
"The Governor's debate prep today is taking place outdoors near a creek on the scenic McCain ranch in Sedona. The serenity and beauty of this setting has contributed to what can be characterized as a relaxed environment. Her family (Todd, Willow, Piper and Trig) are also at the ranch. Several advisors are participating."
McCain blames Obama and Pelosi for today's bailout vote. And then this would-be wanker-in-chief said today is not the day to lay blame. Chris Matthews has other ideas, laying this defeat squarely at the feet of John McCain.
From tonight's show, a leaked and edited version has already made it to the net. McCain cancelled on Letterman only to show up in an interview with Katie Couric just down the street at another CBS building. Keith Olbermann sits in and can hardly contain himself.
Biden uses McCain's own words -- his plans to deregulate health care -- and compares it to the deregulation of the financial services industry.
I like the way Biden wraps this up too. He implies that any politician who would do this sort of thing just doesn't care about regular people with health insurance, pensions, kids in public schools, etc.
