MLN on Fox 61 (4.00 / 1)
I don't usually watch the 10 o'clock news, but last night I was doing laundry (yeah, an awesome Friday night!) and what comes on but a profile of MLN featuring Matt W on the segment called Rick's RSS:

Video link here (no embed... though I'm sure some other MLN'er is working on it...

Also, I'd like to echo the last comment on infrastructure. Democrats, for whatever reason, tend to focus on the immediate short-term, and not so much on long-term strategy, which is when infrastructure suffers.

"I think the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to it."

-Lawrence Summers

I thought Darien had somebody (0.00 / 0)
Go figure.

It's worth pointing out that Peggy Reeves actually won townwide in Wilton in 2006, so the 143rd is definitely a pickup opportunity. Ryan's seat would have been as well.

The two Darien/Rowayton candidates reconsidered... (0.00 / 0)
Candidates have until June 10 (I think) to gather petitions and file as a petition candidate, in case anyone out there is interested.

Candidates have until June 10 (0.00 / 0)
That sounds right.  I believe it's two weeks from the state's official close of D & R conventions (May 27 or 28).  And I think a candidate needs signatures from 5% of the party registration.  If a House seat is approximately 22,000 and a senate seat is approximately 90,000... then if you assume a party registration of 25%... you're looking for signatures from 1.25% of a district.... house = 200 to 250 signatures and senate = 1100 to 1200 signatures... again, of party registrants.

My guess is that you'd need a small organization to pull off the Senate... and probably the House as well.

Denski challenging Bill Hamzy (0.00 / 0)
In the 78th, Jacqui Denski is challenging Bill Hamzy.  Jacqui is on the Town Council in Plymouth.  The district is made up of Plymouth and the Northwestern corner of Bristol.  It was gerrymandered years ago to make it easier for Republican leader Ed Krawiecki to get re-elected.

Hamzy has run unopposed for the last eight years.
