Somebody Wants to be the Next Joe Lieberman...

by: CGG

Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 21:44:19 PM EST

(For more info on how the DLC hate Democrats, read below - promoted by Scarce)

Harold Ford Jr. comes to Connecticut and has nothing but praise for Congressman Shays.

When   Harold Ford, Jr.   walked onto the Quick Center stage for his OPEN Visions forum he knew whose district he was standing in.

"There is not a better Congressman in Washington than Chris Shays," said Ford, to a crowd of about 600 Fairfield University students and community members.

"No national legislator has been to Iraq more times than Chris Shays."

I predict some Congressional PDA in both Shays and Ford's futures...

Where does the Democratic party get these turnips? Do they follow farm trucks all around the country waiting for a rotten one to fall off?

I personally think Harold Ford Jr. (4.00 / 1)
has been hiding under a rock or he just
doesn't know how a lot of us CTers feel
about Shays in the 4th CD!  Aye aye aye!

ya know (4.00 / 3)
I could see him making a polite, restrained comment, something along the lines of a thanking Shays for hospitality, or making a joke about the local sports team. Harmless banter would be OK. But how the heck can this guy who you know would give his left testicle to be in Obama's shoes today (his family is as embedded in politics though the years as the Bushes or Kennedys) think he can be taken seriously in a Blue state by kissing the pale ass of the only republican rep in New England?

Geez! (4.00 / 5)
A few weeks of not blogging regularly and I forget how to make a freaking link!  :)

There are many Bloggers (0.00 / 0)

I wonder if this (4.00 / 2)
is the last straw for DLC member Dan Malloy?

All you have to do is call and asked the DLC to remove your name from their membership roles and then put out a presser announcing your decision Mr. Mayor and the Tag "DLC DAN" disappears.

Remind me not to invite him to my school for Black History Month (4.00 / 3)
from the Blackcommentator.com - thanks - I just saved a toll call to Tennessee.

What would you call someone who appeared at a Black History Month celebration and then proceeded to dismiss Black people? You would call that person United States Representative Harold Ford, Jr. The good Congressman accepted an invitation to speak at a Black History Month program at Lane College in Tennessee. But as we already know from his previous machinations, Mr. Ford did not disappoint in displaying the ignorance, opportunism, and self-hatred that has become customary for DLC Black Democrats who promote reaction under the guise of advocating for change.

But Harold Ford's political history gives us some indication of his thinking on this topic. He would not be shy about declaring his constituents' history unimportant. In the same speech he excused himself from his disgraceful vote in favor of the Iraq war and scolded young Black people for not being active enough. Perhaps witnessing the handiwork of cynical politicians has made young people equally cynical. His politics make it easy to dismiss his foolish words but in honor of Black history month an effort should be made to give the good congressman a history lesson. We need go no further than his home state of Tennessee.

Wha..huh, well-umm, I uhhh...huh? (4.00 / 3)
While there is no shortage of stupid things said by politicians, this one takes the cake.

He should immediately be removed from heading even the DLC.

Regardless of how you feel about the DLC, you should join me in registering your disgust at his comments.

Tell them you support Democrat Jim Himes and you are pissed.

Ford is just confirming (4.00 / 2)
that the DLC is a republican operative group.

I think there are a few members who need to take their names down from this group.

Every DLC member needs to be kicked out of the rpeublican party.

I'd prefer the few members of congress on their list to voluntarily remove themselves.

Joe Lieberman and George Bush believe that our govt should cut and run on capturing Osama Bin Laden so that Bush and the neocons could invade Iraq. Despite no Wmds and no links to 9/11, Lieberman supports that decision.

So Harold Ford is in CT campaigning (3.00 / 1)
for Chris Shays (this is an election year),

I wonder if his next stop is in Maine.

The DLC needs to make up for this (4.00 / 1)
I think we all need to send an email to DLC, but also to the Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee. http://dems.info/contactus.htm
It is incredible that a "leader" of our own party comes in and helps the opposition.  The CT Central Committee needs to ask for an apology and a promise for the DLC to come in set up fund raisers to help Himes.  I think it is going to take $200k to make up this.

This statement by Ford will end up in literature this Fall so Shays can claim that he is, once again, an independent.

This was a purposeful act to prop up Shays.

The DLC (0.00 / 0)
Is  there any more evidence we need in order to believe  that the DLC  should be dis-banded?

What day was that? (0.00 / 0)
"The reason Harold Ford likes me so much is because when I realized that I wasn't going to be president, I went up to him and told him that he was one of the three legislator's that I thought would someday."

When he supported Blackwater?
When they found no WMD?
When he called a credible witness a drug dealer?
When as a conscientious objector, he asked for preventive war?
When he said Diane Farrel was having coffee with the Taliban?
When he said Abu Grab was a sex ring?
When he said Joe Lieberman was a national treasure?

which day was it?

Connecticut for Lieberman party chair advises Shays on the war (0.00 / 0)
In addition to being chair of the Fairfield U. political dept, Prof. Orman is also head of the CFL Party, the party that Lieberman 'forgot' to join.

CFL opposes everything Lieberman represents, including the war. Apparently, Shays was unaware of this little tidbit.

From the Fairfield Mirror:

Chair of the Politics Department John Orman, who took a seat next to Shays, asked Ford what cabinet position he would take if Obama will offered him one.

Ford, who recently got engaged, jokingly invited Orman to ask his fiancée that question.

At one point, during the forum, "I was sitting next to Chris Shays, and he is a supporter of the war so when Ford made a statement of support, for the war Shays leaned over to me and asked if it was OK to applaud, because I feel that we are in a quagmire there.," said Orman.
