Lamont, Lieberman coming to Windsor - Journal Inquirer

by: Neal Fink

Thu Apr 06, 2006 at 14:37:42 PM EDT

The headline is a bit misleading. They are not exactly comparable appearances.

Lamont, a Greenwich businessman who is seek to wrest the Democratic nomination for Senate away from Lieberman, will speak tonight at the Democratic Town Committee meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Windsor Town Hall.

Lieberman, meanwhile, is coming to Town Hall on Sunday, April 9, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to meet in private with committee members, delegates, and elected officials from Windsor and surrounding towns.

(emphasis added)

Poor Joe. So afraid of his own shadow, he won't even address a group of Democrats in an open public forum.

Full story here.

Update (by thirdparty - hope you don't mind, Neal):

According to a comment below, everyone's invited to see Joe speak in Windsor this Sunday:

Lieberman's office sent a staffer to stand-in for Joe at the DTC meeting tonight. He spoke after Ned. When he was through, the DTC chair announced the Sunday meeting with Joe, which was for DTC members, elected officials, and delegates. There were at least 20 non-DTC Lamontistas present, and on the spur of the moment, the Lieberman staffer said the Sunday meeting was open to everyone! I wonder if he'll regret that. Sunday-11:30 at Windsor Town Hall

That's this Sunday, April 9th, 11:30am, Windsor Town Hall.

LTTE (0.00 / 0)
We should write a LTTE asking why Lieberman only wishes to meet with Democratic leaders in private and why he refuses to directly confront his constituents in a public forum. The man is a coward and should be exposed as such.

Do you know if the Journal Inquirer accepts LTTE submissions from outside their circulation area?

Go there and say,

"Mr. Lamont, I thank you for coming to this public forum. I only wish that the Senator thought so highly of our vote to do so. I'm disapointed that my DTC has agreed to meet with the Seantor and cut a backroom deal while not affording us the same chance you have to listen and ask questions. Thank you."

The DTCs deserve to be scolded for not demading that the Senator be transparent.

Let's start the frame. No transparency == Backroom deal.

Lamont = Transparent
Joemnto = Backroom deal

Everytime Joemento's team says "private meeting" make sure you respond with "backroom deal".

If done right, by May 20th 50% of the delegates will associate "backroom deal" with Joemento and "open and honest" with Lamont. Better than that, the press may start to use "Backroom deal" in their reporting.

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

I hope a reporter from the local paper could be there to witness such a question.

Ned re-invited?

If Joemento was allowed to have his representive there tonight, was Ned offered an invitation to attend or have his representitive there when Joemento could make it?
