Welcome Joe To Stamford Today, 4pm

by: tparty

Tue Aug 28, 2007 at 10:25:50 AM EDT

As part of the MoveOn.org series of "Take a Stand" events happening today around the state and the country, Connecticut Opposes the War and other activists will be welcoming Sen. Lieberman to his new/old hometown of Stamford while going door-to-door canvassing his new neighborhood.

From a press release from COW:

Group to Welcome Joe Lieberman to Stamford
Lieberman and Shays Called to "Take a Stand" on Ending War in Iraq

Who:  CT Opposes the War (COW) and citizen activists from around the state

What:  IRAQ SUMMER TAKE A STAND / WELCOME JOE LIEBERMAN TO STAMFORD

When/Where:  TUESDAY, AUGUST 28
Stamford Government Center
888 Washington Boulevard-- Stamford
4:00 PM - Door to Door canvassing in surrounding neighborhood
6:30 PM - Program

In conjunction with the end to the Iraq Summer campaign, we will be challenging Senator Joe Lieberman and Congressman Chris Shays to "Take A Stand" on ending the War on Iraq.  At 4:00 PM, we will begin door to door canvassing in Joe Lieberman's new neighborhood and welcoming him back to Stamford.  We will regroup at 6:30 PM for a brief program.

As the September timeline draws closer we need to send a clear message to Shays and Lieberman about ending the war now.

We will organize shuttle service from the Metro North Station -- carpooling is encouraged.  People are planning to decorate their cars for the drive to Stamford.

Other "Take a Stand" events are going on today in Bridgeport, New Haven, and around the state. But this one sounds like the most fun.

I recommend wearing a white lab coat if you have one, the kind psychiatric doctors wear when they escort mentally disturbed people to the loony bin.

Maybe Joe will take the hint and seek help...

I though I posted this comment earlier today... (0.00 / 0)
I probably got distracted after seing the preview, but I think it is a great idea and if it wasn't for the fact that I was canvassing today I would definitely have dropped in to help out.  Hope all went well out there tonight!
