August 8 2006 midnight memory lane: Kids

A year ago today was one of the best days of my life

This time last year, just after midnight during the night before primary day, I was at the Lamont campaign's South Norwalk office with a team of hardy volunteers and staffers, low on sleep but high on hopes, getting ready to staff over 100 polling places in our district with volunteers, planning for an influx of out-of-state volunteers arriving by early train.

24 hours later, giddy with victory (and more than one free cocktail, thank you Ned and Annie) I was celebrating in MLN the hotel suite of MLN founder BranfordBoy, his dear wife Sally, and a handful of bloggers, my face hurting from smiling so much.  Victory was never so sweet.

Today at MLN, we'll be celebrating the one-year anniversary of Ned Lamont's stunning primary victory with a bit of a nostalgia tour.  Join us to share your favorite stories, photos, videos, blog posts, and memories from the campaign!

For our first nostalgia diary, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite photos from the campaign featuring Kids for Lamont on the campaign trail.  These photos are all by Fletcher Fisher, tireless and talented campaign photographer extraordinaire.

More favorite photos of Kids for Lamont after the jump....join us in comments to share your own!

Here's some of my faves: (4.00 / 1)
We had an event for Ned at my old marital McMansion. Here are two of the best looking and smartest guys there:

Not that I'm biased or anything.

Ned made a big fan that evening. My son, whose biggest regret in life is that he wasn't born a few years earlier so he could vote against W in the last general election, spent several hours poll standing for Ned on election day.

I'd made chocolate chip cookies for the poll standers, and my son, clearly having learned the trick of Jewish Mother Bribery from yours truly, was offering up the home made goods for anyone who spoke to him civilly, even if they weren't voting for Ned. He and I were both amazed by how rude some of the non-Ned voters were. I mean seriously. How many 13 year old kids would choose to stand outside a polling place instead of playing video games?
Even if they weren't in agreement with his politics, I think they should be happy he's politically aware and active at that typically self-centered age.

Now I'm revving him up for the Jim Himes campaign :>)

Ned in Milford last year (4.00 / 1)
Ok, it was October by the time this photo appeared in the papers, but here is Ned meeting Emily, the daughter of Milford Mayoral candidate Kerri Rowland (with her head missing).

and here is a Another CTBob Classic, where Emily and her brother Sean do an November 06 election day rap for Ned.

Kids Rule!

"I am not a Blogger...But I play one on the internet."

Another CTBob greatest hit (0.00 / 0)
I never saw that one!  Bob is so great at getting people to reveal themselves -- his genuine charm and good nature is so disarming.  He's really gifted in that way.

And Kerri's kids are adorable!
