He's now well into Nancy Johnson territory with over 40% of his lucre from PAC's.

Shays gave another spirited speech on Iraq today and the absolute necessity of squandering more american lives and billions. I may up a clip later but it's all rather sickening to watch.

Insurance PACS (0.00 / 0)

Not that I'm surprised, but I don't think Chris will be voting for any kind of healthcare reform whatsoever.  From the number of insurance companies throwing money at him, he'll probably introduce legislation making health insurance mandatory... at the individual's expense.

Does Chris Shays have any idea whatsoever what healthcare costs, and what a drain and/or worry it is for the average citizen?

Speaking of insurance PACs... (4.00 / 2)

Remember the the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill -- the multimillion dollar gift to the insurance and drug industries, written by lobbyists? It came up for vote in 2003, and Shays voted for it.

Here's how Shays' contributions from drug/insurance companies added up before and after that 2003 vote:

In the 10 years prior to 2003:
- Contributions from insurance industry: $57,000 TOTAL
- Contributions from drug industry: $25,000 TOTAL

In the 4 years from 2003-2006 (during and after the vote):
- Contributions from insurance industry: $207,828 TOTAL ($52K/year avg)
- Contributions from drug industry: $91,650 TOTAL ($23K/year avg)

Shays backs another losing cause (4.00 / 2)

One of his disbursements was for $2,300 to John McCain less than three weeks ago.  He sure can pick 'em.

McCain must of been trying to cash in all his chits at the end of the quarter.
