| Many of you here have met Maura, front-page blogger and activist extraordinaire. Many more have read her penetrating Diaries.
The bad news today is that Maura is sick and, thanks to the disastrous state of healthcare in the country, needs our financial assistance.
It seems to me that a large part of being a Democrat means reaching out to help others, whether we know them or not. I'd like to think that reaching out a helping hand to Maura will not only make us feel good about ourselves, but will strengthen our resolve to work for a just and equitable universal healthcare system for Connecticut and the nation.
With that in mind, I have set up a PayPal donation button so that we can all pass the electronic hat. Just click on the button to make your donation and remember that there is no minimum -- small donations can add up quickly if we all chip in.
Where's the button, you ask? For some reason, PayPal buttons don't work when pasted into the body of a Diary -- some conflict with the SoapBlox software that powers this site, I suspect -- so I have pasted the button to the right in the "Menu" box. For good measure, there's also a "Make A Donation" button at the bottom of the right-hand column.
These PayPal buttons are linked to the MyLeftNutmeg email address, but please understand that I am not asking for a contribution to the site. All money raised will go to Maura. When she's back on her feet, I'll take the button down. |
