Joe's Money

by: Matt Browner Hamlin

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 22:47:35 PM EST

I've written over 120 posts about Ned Lamont's candidacy, mostly at my blog Emboldened, but many of them here. I'm honestly pretty upset now about Ned's loss and I'm not yet ready to reflect on the totality of this race. Others will surely do so, some have already started.

I've also written about 25 posts on Joe Lieberman's petty cash slush fund from the Democratic primary. Almost $400,000 in cash has yet to be accounted for and all signs point to Joe using it as street money.

I am not done with this story. I am not satisfied with the lack of answers and I believe that Lieberman committed profoundly illegal acts with that money. I will not give up on this story until we have truth. I'm not through with Joe Lieberman.

Good for you, Matt. (4.00 / 1)
Stay on him. There is something there. He bought this seat, pure and simple. I am disgusted with it. I for one, am going to watch that man like a hawk from here on out.

This house is not a happy one tonight . . .

I believe that time wounds all heels. -John Lennon

We need answers about that cash. (4.00 / 1)
The Dems will take the House.  This is the Republican's worst nightmare.

Someone has to be assigned to Lieberman.  A low key pit bull who won't be brushed off.  My fear is that with power in the Senate teetering, the big Dems'll give Lieberman a pass.

Arizona was just called for Kyl.  If it's clear the Dems don't have the senate (and it looks like we won't), maybe they'll be less constrained in going after Lieberman.

On the bright side, with control of the House, Dems will have the power to turn a bright light on all the bs that Bush and Cheney pushed through without oversight.

You watch... (0.00 / 0)
The Dems in the Senate are going to welcome back Joe like this was just a tough election, then they'll pretend it never happened.

It's criminal the way the wouldn't support Ned.  Friggin' Bill Clinton was in Rhode Island AND New York the other day.  He either drove through or flew over CT without so much as 1 campaign stop for Ned.  Remember that when he wants your support for Hillary's foolishness.

Who's going to volunteer for that duty? (4.00 / 1)
There was little if any real effective support from the Democratic Party for Ned.  They abandoned him as much as the Republican Party abandoned Schlesinger.  The MSM has played a major role in this as well.

I'm With Ya, Matt (0.00 / 0)
LIEberman's unethical and probably illegal campaign tactics should not be swept under the rug. And it's not just about punishing him, it's about making sure that his petty cash dodge doesn't become the next great loophole in campaign finance.

Thank you Matt (0.00 / 0)
Don't get mad, get even.

Ned Lamont changed the terms of the debate across the country. You may have lost the battle in CT but you definitely helped win the war. Ethics will be central to the new Democratic majorities in the 110th Congress. Joe Lieberman will find himself in the same position as President Bush - his reputation lasted lasted just long enough to get re-elected but not long enough to maintain popular support. Joe's 'low information' act may withstand MSM scrutiny in a horse race but it won't hold up to the scrutiny of a detailed legal accounting. Crooked is as crooked does and Joe Lieberman is as crooked a snake oil salesman as the come.

Amann too (0.00 / 0)
Follow the money.

I have heard more stories about money and Amann in the last few weeks than I can process. It is certainly a touchy subject. I think we need an accountant more than a "pit bull", since more than one person referred to "The Untouchables".

Full disclosure: I had a knock down drag out with Amann yesterday at the polls as his "assistant" put out the "Vote Joe" signs. You might find my body washed up on the beach soon. LOL

Seriously, follow the money on all the state legislators.
