Today, Lieberman and Lamont will mark two different anniversaries.

Lieberman will appear with two prominent Republicans, Gov. M. Jodi Rell and U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, R-2nd, to celebrate last year's reversal of a Pentagon decision to close the Groton submarine base.

Lamont will be a featured speaker at an event in New York City sponsored by MoveOn.org to commemorate efforts to rescue victims of Hurricane Katrina and launch a new book about the effort. Lamont has criticized the Bush administration for its response to the disaster.

They all look like somebody just cut a ripper.

GOP pollster Neil Newhouse (0.00 / 0)
probably thought it would be a good photo op.

And just by chance, Newhouse is the pollster for Lieberman, Simmons and Rell.

What a coincidence! Must be that "unity" thing.

Where is Dodd today? (0.00 / 0)
If Joe is the only Democrat showing up, it's clear this isn't a celebration of bipartisanship, it's a GOP rally with their token Democrat.

Disgusting.

Sen. Dodd is nowhere to be found. This is a pure Republican event with Joe Lieberman front and center.

That, and... (0.00 / 0)
Dodd can no longer attend these type of events because appearances do matter. If Lieberman had won the primary Dodd would likely have appeared as well.

Dodd also has to worry about his "presidential ambitions" (0.00 / 0)
Although I don't think he really has to worry about it that much.

Social libertarian.

Not sure this was a campaign event (0.00 / 0)
Are we criticizing Joe prematurely on this issue?  Seems like the timing of this event, and the attendees, relates more to the one-year anniversary of the decision to keep the Sub base open, rather than Joe doing a campaign stop for Simmons.  Lieberman and Simmons were on the team in place to prevent closure, so it would seem hard to argue unequivocally that this was Joe flacking for Simmons.  http://www.dailykos....

The diary links to Norwich Bulletin article that says:

Members of Team Connecticut reconvened this morning at the Dominion Nuclear Power Plant facility in Waterford for a daylong conference reviewing the base closing process. The purpose of the Lessons Learned conference is intended to identify what was done well, and not so well, in the state’s efforts to overturn the Pentagon recommendation.

This isn't a defense of Joe, but rather of getting the facts right.  I've already sent an email to the DSCC today about this and I might have been wrong in flatly asserting Joe was campaigning for Simmons.  The last thing I want is for us to be dismissed on legitimate stuff because we got this one wrong...

where's Dodd? (0.00 / 0)
sort of like "where's Waldo". If this was about the "people involved" then why isn't Dodd there? It looks like a GOP ralley, it smells like a GOP ralley, and amazingly enough, not one Democratic candidate is there (or one Democrat for that matter).

This doesn't wash as non-partisan...

Dodd isn't there, what is he chopped liver?

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.
