Peter King Thinks We're All Bigots

by: Matt Browner Hamlin

Thu Aug 10, 2006 at 15:23:11 PM EDT

Unbelievable, though not shocking coming from Peter King (R - NY 3rd CD).

King said the Connecticut primary has no bearing on his re-election race because "fortunately, the Third District is not composed of the left-wing bigots who went after Joe Lieberman."
Republicans are flocking to Lieberman's (Lieberman - CT) side. They're attacking the Democratic base. They're spewing hate at the prospect of democracy and are slurring Connecticut's voters in what looks to be a concerted effort to aid Lieberman.
Matt Browner Hamlin :: Peter King Thinks We're All Bigots

Will Lieberman disavow the comments of his supporter Peter King? Does he think the voters of Connecticut are bigots? Will the media respond to King's assault on Democrats and the democratic process?

I and every other Democrat - Connecticut native or otherwise - should demand Lieberman to denounce Peter King for calling Connecticut Democrats bigots. There's no place in politics for this brand of attack and Lieberman should not condone King and his sentiments by refusing to denounce this slur.

I found this quote via Dave Mejias' diary at DailyKos. Mejias is running against King and has said he'll support Lamont as winner of the Democratic primary. (Full disclosure: I am informally advising the Mejias campaign on their blog strategy and have avoided posting on his race. I am writing about him now because of King's reprehensible attack on CT's voters.)
