Joe Claims He Returned Wal Mart Dough

by: Maura

Wed Aug 02, 2006 at 14:20:12 PM EDT

This is getting interesting.  Reports from people at the scene say that Joe told reporters he returned the contribution from Wal Mart PAC.  There's no record he returned it on his FEC reports, but then again he apparently never reported receiving it, either.

Even more interesting, it seems that Wal-Mart disclosed sending him the PAC contribution, but  they have not reported getting any refund from Lieberman.

I'll be offline for the rest of the afternoon, unfortunately. If you're interested in this story, join the team of sleuths in the Firedoglake reader community.  More details and links and sources over there for your sleuthing pleasure!

I was there, and an older man approached me and assured me that Joe had returned the money (maybe because I was holding a big sign that said "Joe 'hearts' Walmart PAC money").

The place was swarming with paid LieberYouth, but I felt I was educating them with my signs. They read them more than they focused on Joe. What, he took money from Walmart? He didn't sign a letter for phased redeployment with the rest of the House and Senate Dems?

Missed my chance to be on Channel 3 news, because I had to choose between that or race away from the reporter because I noticed the Kiss float was going up Main St. - with my camera case still in it.

CT Keith! Where are you? BTW, Keith, there's also a festering ham and cheese sandwich in the bag.

P.S. Working on the Lorenzo post now.

Nice quote (0.00 / 0)
"Some of the rap music and other music is just the most violent, anti-woman, pro-drug stuff that I've ever heard. So three cheers for Wal-Mart," says Lieberman. "There is freedom of speech in this country--we've always said that in our appeals to the record companies to try and clean up their act--and just as there's free speech, in a free market Wal-Mart doesn't have to carry anything it doesn't want to carry, and of course that has an effect because they're such a big retailer.

I guess Joe's "coolness" is coming back to hit him in the face.

Here's an idea! (4.00 / 1)
What if the local armed forces recruiting offices received a copy of Joes tour schedule.  They could come to the rallys and sign some of the Lieberyouth up for a tour of duty in Joes war.  That should a good test of their dedication to their fearless leader.  Another question to ask them is how they made out with their financial aid packages for college.  When they reply that they received far less than they had hoped for and their only option is to take out more loans, the recruiters can pipe up and tell them for a few years service and possibly a limb or two, you can recieve up to 50,000 dollars for school.  Joe takes real good care of veterans and he and Rob Simmons, Nancy Johnson, and Frequent Flyer Christopher Shays will ensure that it will be fully funded. Talk about sweetening the pot.  Little do the suckers realize that Joe and his ilk believe that poor kids don't belong in school, they belong in the infantry.

Sorry for the double post. (0.00 / 0)

at least he knows he'll have something to fall back on.
