Ned Lamont's "Family, Friends and Neighbors" Campaign

by: Tim Tagaris

Thu Jul 13, 2006 at 15:39:25 PM EDT

( - promoted by BranfordBoy)

(Tim Tagaris (me) is the Internet Communications Director for Ned Lamont's U.S. Senate Campaign)

As far as process stories about the U.S. Senate campaign go, there's been an under-reported elephant in the room for quite some time now.  We're never going to match Senator Lieberman's (Lieberman-CT) millions in corproate interest and political action committee cash.  And frankly, we don't want to.  There's one weapon in our arsenal that will trump his pharma funded smear campaign... and that's you.

Offline, people pack events hosted in huge hotel ballrooms, local bookstores, and mom and pop dinner spots across Connecticut. Online, bloggers help shape the debate in the traditional media, share Ned's message of progress, and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in small individual contributions. Today, the campaign takes the next crucial step in connecting the online netroots with the offline grassroots:

"Ned's Family, Friends and Neighbors" program.

I am not exaggerating when I say there is nothing more important Connecticut residents can do online to support our effort.

Tim Tagaris :: Ned Lamont's "Family, Friends and Neighbors" Campaign
Using this online tool, you can send a postcard with a personalized message from you to your friends, family and neighbors in Connecticut. Later, you'll follow up with phone calls to your personalized get-out-the-vote list to remind your network to vote for Ned on August 8.

Even as the curtain falls to the floor in his final act as a U.S. Senator, Joe Lieberman can't help but undermine the Democratic Party. During the debate and within shouting distance of any microphone or television camera, he consistently claims our campaign is based solely upon his fatally flawed position on Iraq. The next line, of course, insinuates that it speaks ill of the party should he lose because of his "single principled position." To the Republican Party, Joe Lieberman truly is the gift that keeps on giving.  What most people don't yet know is that it's the senator's consistent public championing of failed conservative policies that necessitated this primary to begin with.

That's why we need you now, more than ever, to start that person-to-person dialogue about Ned with your friends, family and neighbors.

Fact is, Ned has given people who care deeply about this country a reason to believe they can make a difference in the political process again. Ned is a volunteer teacher at an inner-city public school, and a successful entrepreneur with good judgement. And during times like these, sound judgement is what we need. That's why voters are changing their minds. Every voter contact is important, please use the "Family, Friends and Neighbors tool" today!

I'll stick around for awhile to answer any questions you might have, specifically about the online portion of the campaign.  Otherwise, I hope I'll see a few of you at the Young Dems event in New Haven later this evening.

Tim

This is how Ed Meyer(D) beat Bill Aniskovich(R) (0.00 / 0)
a 14 yr incumbent(and evil bastard) for state Senator right here in Branford and the rest of his district.

Tom Swan and his great crew have taken a tool thats been around for over 30 yrs and now they've put it on steroids for Lamonts Campaign by adding the best and most comprehensive voter list  to this tool.

We(by we I mean mostly Rose Ryan, lol) kicked ass with this project in the 2004 election and even though I cried for over a week because Kerry lost(and I was a Deaniac)we had this victory to hold up and to help us move foward.

PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE take the 30 to 60 minutes neccasary to contact your freinds and neighbors using this tool. It's more important and will have more positive results than any hr. you spend Blogging.I Promise.

Got some friends and neighbors on there (0.00 / 0)
Unfortunately a lot of my old friends are out of state, but I did find a good number in the list.

I also managed to find a certain Joe L. from New Haven in there. Maybe he needs to hear from more of his CT friends, eh?  A steady stream of postcards reminding him of the upcoming primary - and who the people are who are supporting it.

I don't have a lot of neighbors that I know (0.00 / 0)
and most of my friends are in Massachusetts, where I work.

This program doesn't work for me but would work for those who have built bridges with their neighbors and have friends in CT.
