STATE SEN 13: Looking back at Dante Bartolomeo's victory

by: ctblogger

Wed Nov 07, 2012 at 12:41:34 PM EST

Among the winners last night, one of my happiest moments came when it was announced that in the race for the State Senate seat in the 13th district, Dante Bartolomeo was victorious over State Capitol Tea Party and Family Institute of CT darling Len Suzio.

To say that Suzio has a checked past is an understatement and Bartolomeo was effective in bringing the State Senator's past to the light. In response, as in the case in the district's special election last year, people in the 13 district was welcomed to a dishonest pro-Suzio push poll which was littered with falsehood about Bartolomeo's record.

In order to learn more about Bartolomeo, late last month I attended a press conference she held with the mayors of Meriden, Middletown who blasted the pro-Suzio push poll. After the presser, which included Suzio crashing the event, I talked to Bartolomeo about the smear campaign launched against her. I also questioned Bartolomeo about the laughable claim from Suzio that she's running a negative campaign (by telling the truth about Suzio's past).

While it's unfortunate that I have to deal with another two years with State Senate Birther Mike McLachlan as my representative in Hartford for the next two years, I'm pleased that the people in the 13th district gave Suzio his pink slip.
