NOM just polled me about Marriage

by: Connecticut Man1

Tue Apr 14, 2009 at 16:11:53 PM EDT

On one of those silly electronic phonecall polls. I never got past their first question on the poll.

Paraphrased: "Do you believe that we should guarantee in law that marriage should be between a man and a woman"

Of course, knowing that the question was leading to their stupidity, I said "No" and they they ended their electronic poll. (It actually prompted me because I did not answer at first, so the machine was waiting for a "Yes" or "No" response.)

I am giving you all this heads up because I am hoping one of you can record the call and nail down exactly what they are asking.

Also: They said it was from NOM, The National Organization (of bigots) for (crazy and bigoted) Marriage... But they did not give a phone number to contact them about the poll.

Aren't they legally obliged to give BOTH the identification of the group and a contact number?

From WhitePages.com:
(202) 461-3452
Type: Land Line
Provider: Cavalier Telephone
Location: Westchester, DC

------------
From The Google:
According to 1 report the identity of this caller is congressman steve king ...

------------
From DailyKos:
I just got robocalled by Freedom Works.

It urged me to attend tomorrows hatefest in a local town.  The robocall number was 202-461-3452--obviously out of DC.  The number they gave out for more info was 888-462-6891.

Now, I must get back to work.

I got the call too (4.00 / 3)
I just don't know why they did not follow up.

They could have asked if I was OK with a marriage between a person and horse.  I would have told them to ask their spouse if she was happy being married to a horse's rear.

strange poll (0.00 / 0)
I got a robo call from the same FRNKCMPN 202 number.  I wasn't paying too much attention until I heard the questions that related to marriage.  The second one was something like: "Do you think marriage between only one man and one woman should be legal and binding in Connecticut?"   What kind of a strange question is that and where is it going?  I immediately suspected it related to an effort to undo the right for gays to marry in CT, but maybe it was directed at a new polygamy problem here?  Are the people behind this marriage survey related to those who pushed for a Constitutional convention in CT?  I think something was mentioned about proposing or proposed legislation relating to marriage and the two survey questions followed.  I think we need to clearly expose who--or what Washington D.C. organization is behind these efforts in order to avoid having our legislature or voters manipulated by outsiders or being tricked into spending valuable time and money on the priorities of non-resident groups.

Yes. (0.00 / 0)
Brian Brown was running the Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC) in the past and now is the one of the leaders of the NOM campaign. These faux religious hate groups are all interconnected and FIC was leading the charge for a Constitutional convention in CT, but Brown had moved on before then.

The groups behind these groups? The uber right wing "Heritage think tank" is associated with them and they are tied into groups like "Focus on the Family". There are other far right wing groups tied into them and they are, in reality, just AstroTurf groups and outlets for high paying wingnut welfare failures.
