Here are some comments from the online petition in support of State Central's pending censure resolution against Joe Lieberman.
There is nothing that this man stands for that the Democratic party stands for. Do the right thing.

[...]

Please do this! I have been waiting since 2006. The man is a liar, a traitor and his priority is Joe Lieberman not the interest and principles of the Democratic Party. We are failing all the other good Democrats across our great country.

[...]

If you do not censure Mr. Lieberman then what you are telling the United States is that his behavior is within the bounds of acceptable behavior. Is that true?

[...]

Joe sat by while the McCain campaign used despicable tactics and lies to smear President-Elect Obama. This is not the behavior we want or need in a leader today. And certainly not in a Democratic leader. Joe must go!!

[...]

Joe Lieberman has stabbed Connecticut Democrats in the back too many times. It is time to strip him of all committee memberships -- he no longer deserves such respect from Democrats.

[...]

His one big campaign promise of "working to elect a Democratic President" was broken in a very big way. Barack Obama was there for him in 2006 and helped him win re-election. Senator Obama earned and deserved his loyalty. Senator Lieberman has proven to be disloyal and untruthful. Hopefully he stills has integrity and does the right thing and resigns.

[...]

Senator Lieberman no longer represents my best interests within the Democratic Party. He has ignored his responsibility to me, his constituent, to act as my representative in Congress. In addition, by stumping for John McCain and down-ticket Republicans who actively oppose my political and personal values, he has worked against my best interests. As a result, I support this petition calling for you to ask Joe Lieberman to resign as a member of the Democratic Party of the state of Connecticut.

[...]

Joe Lieberman is a dishonest and treacherous human being. I am an independent. I have never liked Joe Lieberman. I watched him lie about Lowell Weiker, Ned Lamont., and many others; especially Democrats. Joe Lieberman is a closet Republican. There is nothing wrong with being a Republican, but there is quite a bit wrong with being dishonest and treacherous. If the Democrats are smart they will get rid of Joe so that he will not be able to destroy the Democratic Party from within.

Adding to the mix, the Fairfield Weekly did a piece on the censure resolution and interviewed two supporters of the measure.

George Jepsen
Former state Senator, former State Democratic chairman, Ned Lamont campaign chairman

"It's perfectly appropriate for Connecticut Democrats to express their outrage at the way Joe has conducted himself. [Senate Democrats] should take away his chairmanship. Occasionally in politics you need to do the right thing. Why you'd keep someone in a recognized leadership position who just supported McCain/Palin is beyond me. What does it mean to have a party that tries to forge a cohesive set of ideals and move forward when you reward that kind of incredible behavior?"

Audrey Blondin
Former Litchfield Selectwoman

Democratic State Central Committee, District 30

"Joe is no longer a Democrat. He can register Republican, independent, Party of Joe, whatever, but he's making a mockery of the state Democratic Party and somebody needs to say that.

"Absolutely, he should be stripped of the committee chairmanship. How can he retain his leadership position nationally in the Democratic Party? He went in the face of every Democrat across the nation.

"We have to look at our potential loss of influence [if Lieberman is removed], but honestly how many times has Joe been back in the state since he ran for president? He's basically been an absent senator. Connecticut has already lost with this."

Unfortunately, when it comes to State Central showing courage and voting to censure Lieberman next month, the following comment should be seen as a preview of what's to come.
Myrna Watanabe
Harwinton Democratic Town Chair

Democratic State Central Committee, District 8

"Joe should be stripped of his chairmanship and basically beyond that, he needs to be ignored. This man was supported by loyal Democrats for what, 20, 30 years? I met people who followed him, who went to New Hampshire and Iowa with him, who supported him before that in all the positions he ran for. He thumbs his nose at all those people.

"Basically, we're impotent. I don't believe we have a recall mechanism. It would be fun, but even if we did, it probably wouldn't fly. Let's put it this way, in terms of talking to people about this [censure] resolution, some people scream and yell and holler, I supported Joe against Ned, I had signs on my lawn, I did this and that, I hate his guts, that miserable S.O.B. But they might not vote to censure him."

This is why it's critical for people to stand up now and support of slapping Joe on the wrist.

Sign the online petition supporting the pending censure resolution against Joe Lieberman and send a message to State Central demanding that they take action NOW!
