Cook Report: CT-04 moves to toss-up

by: Scarce

Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 18:48:11 PM EDT

As reported at TPM, via the Cook Political Report:

The Cook Political Report, whose ratings of Congressional races are well-respected by political pros, has just changed its ratings on ten House races -- and has changed them all in favor of the Dems.

It's very rare that Cook flips so many ratings at once -- much less flipping them all in favor of the same political party.

CT-04 - Chris Shays - Lean Republican to Toss Up

An ill wind is blowing through the land if you're a republican incumbent in 2008.

Jim Himes must be smiling.

I hope the Senate Intelligence Committee Report finally nails Shays (0.00 / 0)
The report definitively reported that the Bush administration deceived the American people about WMD's, about the fictional Iraq/al Qaaeda link, and about the need to start a conventional war because the "weapons facilities" were too deep to destroy by bombing.  All lies.

But where was Chris Shays?  He didn't even bother to read the classified intelligence estimate that demonstrated that the aluminum tubes couldn't be used for nuclear weapons development.  And, even though he served as chairman of a committee that included foreign policy and emerging threats, he didn't bother to double check the administration's facts, or to exercise oversight over the intelligence in any way.  He was asleep at the wheel.  Or more accurately, he probably knew that it was all bunk, but played cheerleader for war anyway.

Jim Himes should pose the question every step of the way:  Is Shays the person you want evaluating going to war in the future after blowing it so badly this time?

Yes! (4.00 / 2)
Jim Himes is smiling and we're all cheering!
