in case we needed more proof: (4.00 / 1)
Chris Shays is a moron.  Why would anyone in CT ever kiss this man again?  I know Shays and Joe are buds, but that doesn't mean he has to repeat his easily-avoidable mistake...

It was done for a reason... (4.00 / 1)
What that reason may be is anyone's guess. My guess is that when Shays is "harshly" criticized by bloggers, he plans to play the role of "victim" to gain voter sympathy. This is a tactic that Susan Collins of Maine has used in her re-election campaign.

Strategic Positioning (0.00 / 0)
I actually watched the much earlier version that came on C-span and other sources before the networks carried the live feed. It was pathetic watching Shays, who had scoped out that area with a handful of other republican waterboys, all with the plan to get a little face time. The Peck was planted to convince the RNC and other capital sources to back Shays' to the utmost because of his loyalty.

[ Parent ]
Yeah, I can see that too (0.00 / 0)
...  resorting to Bush-kissing to give his fundraising efforts a boost. It's sad and degrading. He must be getting desperate.

[ Parent ]
What are Shays's favorables vs. unfavorables? (0.00 / 0)
Does it make sense to  campaign against a candidate with relatively high favorables the same way way one campaigns against e.g. a candidate who has turned his back on his constituency and p*ssed a lot of people off in the process?

Do all the nonpolitical but voting people, grateful to "Chris" for his efforts on local issues like the air traffic route revision proposals, care about his other policies?  And does a Judas peck on the cheek of a lame duck bother people the same way when they have the idea the end of Bush's power grab is in sight?

Thoughts to ponder before getting out the chicken wire.

I think CaptainCT's point about a sympathy play is very well taken, and there is an established reflexive meme about negativity -- Shays could try to ride e.g. the Obama hope train for the constituents who wake up in time to vote, and as we have seen, people get mighty pissed off when their hope train is sidetracked, even by rationality, but certainly by campaign tactics.

IMHO The Dems have  their own hope train, should they decide to ride it,  in Jim Himes's candidacy -- people may be sick to death of tactics and maneuvers and ready for a candidate who is so much nicer than Chris Shays that Shays looks like what he now  has come to be.

Gernif back to Venus.  Over and out.

RNC does not have enough money (0.00 / 0)
to defend all it's incumbents in danger of getting flipped. When it comes to fund-raising for this election cycle, so far the Democrats are winning.

I couldn't believe it (4.00 / 1)
I'm glad someone got it up. Do we need another bigger than life papier-mâché doll set to donate to Jim Himes campaign?

I refuse to let my pragmatism get in the way of my idealism.

Dad just called me to let everyone know. Might take a little time-George needs some work-but, he's willing to do it.
