Let's Nominate Jim Himes for Russ Feingold's Progressive Patriots Fund!

by: OGDem

Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 17:42:25 PM EST

(Cast 2 votes for Jim Himes - here and DFA! - promoted by Jon Kantrowitz)

Russ Feingold's PAC, the Progressive Patriots Fund, has a suggest-a-candidate section that encourages supporters of progressive House and Senate candidates to put forth a name for endorsement.

Take this link and let's nominate Jim Himes to be a Progressive Patriots Fund endorsed candidate.

Thanks :) (0.00 / 0)
Hope our war of words over Kucinich can meet with a truce and a toast to Jim Himes :)

I wish I knew more about other candidates to nominate. I read a few (some I think are SERIOUS long shots, judging by their profiles) but I didn't have time to click on every single candidate and make a decision, so I just voted for Jim, cause he's a guy I KNOW is a powerful candidate who will make a difference.

I voted for Ashwin Madia and Chellie Pingree.... (0.00 / 0)
I voted for Ashwin Madia because I liked his story (first generation American, Iraq War vet) and saw a video of him online and he looked pretty intelligent.

I voted for Chellie Pingree because Ned Lamont endorsed her. She's running for Tom Allen's old House seat up in Maine. (Allen is running for Senate against Susan Collins.)

Madia... (0.00 / 0)
...was one of my DFA choices (besides Himes, of course). I hadn't heard of him previously, but the resume on the DFA site looked great, and I've been paying a little extra attention to MN because of Al Franken's run. Franken's PAC supported a couple of our challengers in 2006, so I'm happy to return a little love to the MN DFL slate.

Great to vote twice for Jim Himes in 2 day:  Progressive Patriots Fund and DFA. Hope everyone will do the same.

Don't forget (4.00 / 4)
to write a brief comment if you could. Campaigns across America will flood sites like these with votes, but having sat in and participated in many PAC nomination meetings I can tell you that brief personal notes say a lot and can count for a lot more than a single vote.

Thank you for the tip! (0.00 / 0)
And thanks to everyone for the support.

I did that (0.00 / 0)
I went chapter line and verse in a few words to let them know why this was the guy.  Russ Feingold lent Ned Lamont a staffer during last year's campaign, so if they know that, maybe she'll put in a corroborating word about Jim.

And I followed your advise. Below was my blurb about Jim:

Jim Himes has the endorsements of some of the most progressive individuals in his congressional district. His win will turn all of Connecticut blue.

Included a long comment letting people know that Himes' Republican opponent Chris Shays supported Bush's scheme to privatize Social Security, does not support national health insurance, but backs Bush's "health savings plan", which is nothing more than a subsidy for the "healthy and wealthy," has served as Bush's biggest cheerleader for the war in Iraq, provided the deciding vote in 2006 for the biggest cut in the federal student loan program in its history, and stated that Bush, as the commander-in-chief, has the authority to illegally wiretap any American citizen without a warrant.

Cast my vote, signed, sealed, and delivered! :)
