Lamont and Schlesinger: "Bush foreign policy in disarray."

by: mbair

Sun Nov 04, 2007 at 08:50:36 AM EST

(This was a terrific event. Thanks to mbair for the video and diary. Sue has more about the "Honk for Piece" premiere here. - promoted by CaptCT)

Last night I was invited to attend a screening of the new movie, Honk for Peace, in Greenwich CT as part of the Connecticul Film Festival. Ned Lamont, Alan Schlesinger, the filmaker Corey Boutilier, the whole Lamont crew and of course, Hollywood Bob, all come out to see the film and enjoy some Q & A with Ned after the screening.

So imagine my surprise when Alan Schlesinger, the Republican nominee for the Senate race in 2006 completely repudiated the Bush administration on Iraq seen through the light of Iran

Follow me below the fold for another shocking repudiation of Bush foreign policy by a self-admitted former acolyte.

mbair :: Lamont and Schlesinger: "Bush foreign policy in disarray."
But more and more as I look at Iran ... it looks like more and more of a poor decision to go into Iraq originally, I think it's going to cost us for the next 20 or 30 years. I hope it doesn't cost us our lives, in what we're facing with Iran. But it was a big mistake. The Bush administration, on foreign policy is in disarray.

Just a teaser this morning, kids. Full vlog will be posted next week. Tune in to see "Hollywood Bob" on the red carpet.

Connecticut Bob

oh man (0.00 / 0)
Mike Brown woke me up this morning at 6:00am screaming and yelling, good thing I took at Advil before I went to bed last night. It was a long day canvassing but we got a lot accomplished. It was great to see you again and my best to CT Joyce.

Anybody want to take over? I have to take the step-twins out for their birthday lunch.

It was so great to see you and Lorenzo, keep him in good shape for the next big one. His out of flower pot status is concerning me, he's the key to the whole operation.

You're always welcomed up north with or without Lorenzo. See you 'round.

Joe vote patterns - late "cosmetic" votes to make a pretty record? (0.00 / 0)
If Schlesinger's views are shared by many in the GOP, Lieberman is a man casting about for a constituency.  (duh, takes me awhile - I think Scarce predicted this a year ago).

However, can tparty or somebody clarify what was learned about Lieberman's voting patterns that acted to create a public perception of his views that may not have been fully accurate?  I'm referring to the apparent practice of waiting til late in the vote to cast e.g. pro votes -- not voting till it was clear that the no vote was going to win.  He certainly did not come out against Broadwater until Ned Lamont was invited to speak at a rally.

Took me awhile to understand this tactic  by legislators - get a vote on record that will boost their standing with nonprofit report cards, but do it when it won't count for anything.

The GOP apparently gives some passes to members to vote against the party line when it involves issues critical to their constituencies.
