Liberals should "shut up", Attacks on Ned Lamont at UCONN continue from April

by: liberal.ct

Sat Nov 03, 2007 at 01:12:58 AM EDT

Here is an op-ed at the UCONN official newspaper, the Daily Campus, that talks of the Lamont/Kucinich event there back in April.  FYI, to no ones surprise the author gets his facts wrong about the questioner mentioned in the commentary, and he tells liberals to "shut up"!
http://www.dailycamp...

Of course there is a systematic suppression of political free speech at UCONN, including possibly fraudulent "noise complaints" against an October 2006 Ned Lamont/Wesley Clark rally from the UCONN School of Business.  That "noise complaint" blocked the right of the UCONN Dems, rightfully according to the UCONN Student Union rules, to have music at later rallies with Ned Lamont and state Senate President Donald Williams.  Of course, the UCONN School of Business has a clear bias:

The UCONN School of Business gets funding from the state budget, and maybe Donald Williams should know about their attacks and bias against his and the UCONN Dems' free speech!

You can send a note about these and other UCONN matters to the UCONN president Michael J. Hogan at:

and Donald Williams at:

UCONN Republicans (0.00 / 0)
Rob Casapulla is the head of the UCONN Republicans and the mentor of the UCONN Republicans is in the Accounting Department of the UCONN School of Business.  There was disruption of the November Lamont rally as this article shows:
http://www.dailycamp...

"During the speeches, there were some disruptions in the crowd by supporters of Lamont and Lieberman trying to cover up each other's signs. There was also some booing and shouting during Lamont's speech.

"I think they are being disrespectful," said Lauren Ashley Ellis, a 3rd-semester English major and treasurer of the UConn College Democrats. "Our group would never go protest a Republican candidate. They are being very mean-spirited about the election." "

You can see the attempt of the UCONN Republicans to disrupt the event in the Q&A.  Here are the CT Bob blog entries here and here.

DailyKos diary on the importance of UCONN for Joe Courtney (0.00 / 0)
this is a nice DailyKos diary on how UCONN campus elected Joe Courtney!  So it is important to defend political free speech rights at UCONN!  Please email the UCONN president Michael J. Hogan at:

and Donald Williams at:

the local Democratic state rep:
Denise.Merrill@cga.ct.gov

Joe Courtney may be interested, since he won because of UCONN Storrs students (0.00 / 0)

Faux audience? (0.00 / 0)
Hmm.  Six "people" who registered in the middle of last night recommended this diary, and then three of "them" commented.

Faux diaries (0.00 / 0)
Writing diaires, inventing new persona's to comment on them and recommend is grounds for expulsion as it reflects badly on all of us.

liberal.ct was also "catman" (user #1859) who wrote on 10/21/07:

my apologies (0.00 / 0)
Yes, I clearly reposted material from a previous diary, since I thought the topic was important.  My apologies if that is inappropriate, but I think the importance and validity of the post(s) remains unchanged.
thanks!

financial donor web sites (0.00 / 0)
Here is a list of donors to Lieberman including those after the primary, and you can see various business PACs, including PACs linked to UCONN through various ways.

You can look up your favorite name in the political campaign donors search site CQMoneyLine.

how corporations influence elections (0.00 / 0)
Here is a nice clip from Stephen Colbert on how corporations, such as those business PACs who contributed to Lieberman in the link of the post above, finance and influence elections. It is sad that comedy shows are now the main teaching tool for American politics!  Various CEOs in the businesses that have PACs listed above (i.e. donated to Lieberman) have relationships with UCONN School of Business that I believe is very inappropriate.  One can search the names of the CEO in the CQMoneyLine link above.
