Will Shays take a stand on Scooter Libby?

by: CTMET

Tue Jul 03, 2007 at 22:45:30 PM EDT

I called Chris Shay's office in Washington today. I asked the person who answered the phone if the congressman had a position on the the commutation of Libby's sentence.
I also told them that if ANYONE would stand up to the republican corruption machine in Washington I would expect it to be congressman Shays. (OK I had to cross my fingers when I said that).

I told them that as my representative in Washington I need to know where he stands on this.

The aide completely agreed but said that the congressman hadn't said anything yet. He took my name and address and said the congressman would send out a letter. I guess that is in addition to forwarding my name to the NSA (only kidding NSA guy who is reading this).

I'm not holding my breath, but its about damn time Shays felt some heat. That is THE only way anything will change given our current congressional math.

hi (4.00 / 1)
shays  is  scred  he wont take  a stand

How about demonstrating outside his office? (4.00 / 1)

Demonstrating (4.00 / 1)
Wes Clark's son had a diary over on DailyKos calling for people to demonstrate in their towns this Sunday, and subsequent Sundays -- to simply stand somewhere visible in their cities and towns for an hour, with signs/tshirts/banners saying "Enough."  Not a bad idea.

I keep hearing that 'people outside the beltway don't care about the libby commutation' (4.00 / 3)
I cannot tell you how untrue this is.

I've heard nurses complaining about it in the lab where I get blood drawn.

I've heard the checkout lady and the person who bags my groceries bemoaning the decision.

I've heard shopkeepers at my LYS expressing their concern and disgust.

These arent' political insiders.. they're hard working folk who care about their country.

I don't live in Shay's district but I can't imagine things are that much different a few miles away.

He really needs to wake up. Maybe an organized visit to his office isn't a bad idea...
