  • Melissa Bailey files her report on the CFL get-together, with the full platform and some details of the pre-meeting Orman / Korchin showdown. (Not to fuss, but Jon withdrew his alternate platform.)

  • CT News Junkie reports on the results the state is not getting for all their Medicaid spending. This is the key wedge issue for single-payer, stripping MCOs of their lucrative contracts to provide government-funded services.

  • Blog for choice tomorrow. Godammit, we're going to get MLN on the Family Institute Enemies List one of these days! I'll be on the lookout for good pro-choice / reproductive freedom posts tomorrow.

  • CTBlue catches Lanny Davis confusing "bipartisanship" with "halfway between mediocre and insane." And an old link from Colin in case you forgot all about Lanny's style. "Bill O'Reilly in a donkey mask" still seems apt.

  • MyDD on the blog reading habits of Congressional staffers. As greenpeas' diary shows, forwarding blog material on to our legislators can sometimes result in real action in response.

  • Fantastic set of articles on non-response bias in public opinion polling, a phenomenon quite familiar to phonebankers and poll-followers. Via Pollster.

  • UPDATE 8:45pm The real legislation to redeploy U.S. troops from Iraq, sponsored by the Out of Iraq Caucus. Larson is the only one I could find as a member, does anyone know about Courtney or Murphy? Either way, H.R. 508 is the bill to watch.

Also, a poll over the fold: I don't run the joint, but I'm interested in what MLN readers are thinking on this.

MLN Posts... (Vote for as many as you please)

CfL and MLN Poll (0.00 / 0)
re CfL

Two members of the Democratic Party State Central Committee leadership, fresh out of a monthly meeting Wednesday, reported the group had voted unanimously in favor of pressuring the state legislature to pass such a "sore loser law."

Actually...she is referring to Keith Crane and I, who are not on the the State Central Committee, though we are (respectively) on the New Haven and Milford Town Committees. And we are both a bit fresh.

re That Poll.

I thought we didn't trust polls? Aren't they all controlled by LieberKrauts? Anyway, I voted for both sides of most issues on this one.

Signed,
Professor Chaos

Assassination did not "short circuit" the bipartisan experiment (0.00 / 0)
Indeed, we saw exactly what happens when you have a prez and vice prez from different parties.  When Lincoln was killed, Andrew Johnson took over and promptly set to work undoing the North's victory over one of the most heinous societies in human history.  He put the slave masters back in charge of their plantations, briskly issued pardons to former Confederate officials, and welcomed back into Congress former generals and other high officials who had committed treason against the United States just months before.  And he set the stage for the de factor reinslavement of African-Americans for the next century.

Shame on Lannie Davis.

TPM:

You probably know that Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) is slated to give the Dems' official response to President Bush's State of the Union address tomorrow evening. But what about your response? For years at TPM we've been printing emails from TPM Readers. But how about video? With the proliferation of webcams, phone-cams and video cameras, putting together a short video response to the president's State of the Union address is relatively easy to do for a great number and possibly the majority of our readers.

details to follow...
