For those of you curious how some of the soldiers who just found out they are going to be "surged", (i.e. tour extended beyond their original deployment), here's a direct quote from one of them:
We are running a marathon here. We have been pacing ourselves for a 24 mile run. Now when we are at the sprint to the end they add another 6-8 miles to the course. There are a lot of very tired people that are hanging on by a thread...I suggest you all reach out and touch someone and tell them to stop this stupidity.
