Joe Cuts And Runs From Debate Debacle

by: BranfordBoy

Mon Oct 16, 2006 at 14:20:45 PM EDT

That's our Joe! (From the official Lamont blog:)

[B]oth Ned and Alan stuck around to speak with the media. Joe, unfortunately, literally cut and ran (with pep in his step) out of the hall, refusing to answer questions and went right up to his room.

One of the moderators was just scouring the hall looking for ANYONE from the Lieberman campaign, but can’t find anyone. Word is that Joe ran up the back stairway. Out of sight, quick as a flash.

It will be interesting to see if anyone in the so-called MSM to reports this.

Yeah (3.50 / 2)
I think he just did a number 2 in his pants after seeing Schlesinger's performance.  Bye bye republican votes.

Joe has to hide... (0.00 / 0)
...from the obvious flaws in his voting record and previous position statements on the issues.

Can't have anyone get him on tape lying anymore than he did in the debate. lol

CT-Sen: Schlesinger wins debate, Lamont wins election

...snip...

I would be willing to put some money down on the notion that his debate performance is going to boost his poll numbers quite a bit now that many state Republicans just saw him for the first time. And even though this debate was broadcast at 1 PM on a Monday (worst debate time ever!), the Alan-Schlesinger-Out-Of-His-Shell story is going to dominate CT media tonight and tomorrow for sure. People who have never heard of him are about to and that can only help Ned.

The winner of this debate was Schlesinger. However, the real winner was Ned Lamont. If Schlesinger's animated performance just got the near-dead GOP base all riled up, he will draw more than the estimated 4 percent vote total away from Lieberman's lead. This, of course, makes Lieberman the loser. Lieberman was shocked that Schlesinger came out swinging against him on the first question and I am sure he is driving away from the debate in his SUV right now wondering just how much Schlesinger's brilliant performance is going to hurt his chances.

Keep your fingers crossed that he gets a post-debate bounce. Call all those Republican CT friends you have who you couldnt convince to support Ned and tell them about the REAL Republican who just showed up.

...snip...

How about... "Alan, didn't you get the memo that I am the the de facto Republican in this race?"

Don't you know that I'm Bush's man?

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

how about the enterance (0.00 / 0)
Schlesinger was there for almost 30 minutes before the debate (even though he went largly unnoticed until he introduced himself).  Ned came in the front door about ten minutes before and enjoyed a minute lont standing ovation as he mingled, sat with his family and then made his way onto the stage.

Lieberman showed up five minutes before coming through the back door right behind the stage and jumped right onto the platform at the same time as Ned and Allen were walking up on the other side.  The applause could have been for Ned and Allen taking the stage or for Joe finally showing up but nobody knows.

Joe appeared out of nowhere.  No mingling, no hand shaking, just in and out.

It looks like it will be up to the blogs to give people a real picture of what happens on the campaign trail.

That's both exciting and sad in approximately equal measure.

Schlesinger was great. (0.00 / 0)
Quick-witted, articulate, passionate.

He'll get more than 5% of the Republican/Indie Conservative vote, with this performance coupled with his placement next to Rell in the voting booth.

Lieberman will have to switch gears in a hurry for the next debates.  He sure got caught flat-footed by Schlesinger.

The debate is being rebroadcast at 7pm tonight.

The real Repub won (0.00 / 0)
the debate. Al was the big winner of the debate. Joe and Ned did pretty much as expected. S should double his low numbers. Many conservative  Repubs will now feel OK about voting for Al.

The big winner overall was Ned. All of Al's new support will come from Joe's weak followers and Ned can only benefit.

Ned performance mirrored his first outing. He seemed uptight at the beginning and found his stride in his closing statement. The next debate, to be aired at 7:00 pm this Wednesday, will be more important since it should have a much greater number of viewers.

The use of an anti-Lamont Repub following the debate to give viewers the sole  analysis of the debate was not something an honest free press should do.

Peace.
