Schlesinger's Breakthrough Interview

by: BranfordBoy

Sun Oct 15, 2006 at 12:54:58 PM EDT

I am going to send you over to Connecticut Bob to watch an amazing in-depth interview with Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger. He did the heavy lifting and he deserves the traffic.

This video illustrates perfectly what "people=powered media" is all about. Schlesinger has been all but ignored by the so-called MSM. He has also been royally shafted by his own party, which is so devoid of principle that it would rather back a shill like Lieberman than its own candidate.

If Lieberman was an honorable man, he would have honored the verdict of his own Party primary and this would be a race between Lamont and Schlesinger. After watching this interview, I wish more than ever that that had been the situation. At the very least, Ned Lamont would be facing an honorable and credible candidate.

Based on Schlesinger's performance here, I am willing to predict that he will get a HUGE boost from the debates and that the next poll numbers will reflect that.

While I really want you to watch this over at Connecticut Bob, you should be aware that Bob has uploaded the video to You Tube. Follow that link, rate it up, then copy the link and share it with all your Republican friends (we all have some).

Finally, a word of warning. You will find yourself agreeing with an awful lot of what Alan Schlesinger has to say. It's a little bit scary.

I agree with your warning... (0.00 / 0)
but, I think the people who will agree more are the Republicans!  CTBob and Pat Carroll did a great job in bringing in Schlesinger's voice to the debate and that's what democracy is all about!  I just hope that Schlesigner takes away from this experience that the real Democrat, Ned Lamont, and his supporters are NOT about surpressing any side of the debate!

I agree with your idea of the post-debate Schlessinger boost. He certainly seems smart and articulate, as well as a comfortable speaker.

Debates should be awesome.

Thanks for the props, Branford Boy (4.00 / 1)
I am sure that Schlesinger will do much better than he's polling right now.  As he mentioned, by the very fact that he is located RIGHT NEXT to undeservedly popular Governor Jodi Rell, that'll give him a significant boost of anywhere up to 10%.

Plus, when the Republicans out there actually hear him speak, they'll realize they DO have a choice, and they'll also realize just what a terrible disservice Joe Lieberman did to their party by insisting on his selfish fifth-party campaign.

I wish I'd been able to do this interview a week or more ago.  I was kind of shocked by how open and interested in the interview Alan's people were, even AFTER I disclosed that I'm a fervent Lamont supporter.  But I also explained that I'm a big fan of democracy, and that I felt it best served the process to have all the candidates get exposure to the voters.

The real culprit here is the Republican Party.  It's a terrible shame how they've abandoned someone who is not only the Republican candidate of choice, but also someone who does offer the voters in CT a conservative choice.

They've done a great disservice to their candidate and themselves.  What happened to Alan Schlesinger could happen to any loyal rank and file Republican.

Wow I do agree with him on most points (0.00 / 0)
That is kid of scary...

Still voting for Lamont though. LAMONT 2006!!!

What a Trip (0.00 / 0)
Yeah, can't imagine party faithful abandoning a candidate who didn't agree with their every position, despite his years of being a member of that party.....

If I were a Republican (God forbid), (0.00 / 0)
then I would be really impressed and persuaded by Schlesinger's performance in this interview. He did a good job--and yes, I did agree with him on some points. While he seemed a bit too hawkish on Iran (given how awfully the Iraq war has gone, I can imagine war with Iran would be a thousand times worse), his plan for Iraq sounded sensible to me--especially when he pointed out that there is no military solution to the Iraq problem, only a political one. I agree that, ultimately, Iraq probably needs to be some kind of tri-state federation.

This guy has got to get 8%.  Then we've got a chance.

I don't believe these polls for a minute. (0.00 / 0)
Schlesinger will definitely be in the double digits.  I find it hard to believe that Republicans are going to be enthralled with voting for Lieberman.  He can't be trusted by the Democrats after his treachery and he will never be trusted by the Republicans because of his treachery.

Benedict Arnold died a very unhappy man that did not have a proper grave marker until 2004 because he was never trusted by the British.  There are some parallels here to observe and contemplate.  I am looking forward to the debates.

Sclesinger: 25% or bust!

I really hope so (0.00 / 0)
I posted in the other thread about this video... It is likely Schlesinger will pick up a significant number - but how much will this be? 8% or more like 12-15%? We can't hope for GOP turnout to beat Joe since that will hurt the House races and JDS, so we have to do the ground work (as Arriana's piece is trying to motivate us to do).

From Bob & Pat's interview, Schlesinger appears to be able to mount an effective attack on Joe aimed squarely at CT GOP voters. Hopefully he will he be willing to play spoiler to some extent to draw away from Joe, if he repeats what he says in the debates. The question is how much can he really stick in Republicans' minds with little ad money (he says money will come after the debates) and will the CT media continue to toss in the Alan Gold thing from now till Nov 7th? I think this situation is still very volatile, so us Lamonsters have to do everything to Ned's campaign forward in case Schless can't get 10%.
