ConnPost: "Nancy Johnson's Loony"

by: BranfordBoy

Mon Sep 25, 2006 at 16:18:21 PM EDT

Ouch! Ken Dixon of the Connecticut Post really lets Nancy have it on her dumb as dirt terrorist spot -- and takes a swipe at Rob Simmons for good measure.

The 12-term Johnson is so desperate to keep her comfy $158,100-a-year House seat, her talons so tightly clutched around a state-record tenure in Congress and her elevated spot in the GOP food chain, that her desperate slashes at Murphy betray an attitude better examined by psychologists than political scientists.

Johnson's SWAT team even stooped to criticize Murphy's spelling last week. His people made the mistake of charging that Johnson "tows" the Bush administration line, rather than "toes" the line. Her vicious attacks at Murphy make three-term U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons's TV bombardment of the open-mouthed Democrat Joe Courtney look like prime-time comedy. I don't think that Simmons, R-2, is any less desperate than Johnson, though he does prove than anybody looks good in a submarine-patterned necktie.

Murphy interview (0.00 / 0)
Chris Murphy was interviewed by Colin McEnroe (mp3) on WTIC today.

You'll never get criticism out of CT Post's Peter Urban (0.00 / 0)
Peter Urban is the guy who writes that Chris Shays entered the Peace Corps in fulfillment of his "national service".  Yet when I pointed out to him that the only national service required was military service, and Chris Shays avoided that he and his editor, James Smith, both refused to publish a clarification.  Further, they refuse to even question Chris Shays how he could be a conscientious objector, which requires that one refuse to serve in all wars, but regularly vote to send other parents' children to war to be killed and wounded.  According to James Smith, Shays' CO application happened a long time ago, so it's not relevant.  Yes, it did happen a long time ago; and conscientous object Chris Shays is sending tens of thousands of young people to be blown up today.

In other words, CT Post and Peter Urban are intent on giving Chris Shays a free pass on the most important issue of the day: war and peace; life and death.
