Now that the alleged Hacking story has been 100% debunked the next question is whether Sean Smith, Joe Lieberman's campaign manager, will be held accountable for filing complaints with the Connecticut Attorney General and Chief State's Attorney's offices. Connecticut's Penal Code includes:

Sec. 53a-180c. Falsely reporting an incident in the second degree: Class A misdemeanor. (a) A person is guilty of falsely reporting an incident in the second degree when, knowing the information reported, conveyed or circulated to be false or baseless, such person gratuitously reports to a law enforcement officer or agency (1) the alleged occurrence of an offense or incident which did not in fact occur, (2) an allegedly impending occurrence of an offense or incident which in fact is not about to occur, or (3) false information relating to an actual offense or incident or to the alleged implication of some person therein.
(b) Falsely reporting an incident in the second degree is a class A misdemeanor.

Not only did the Lieberman campaign lie to the press, but it appears they may have violated the law.

Sean Smith's hourly press reports about Lamont's "rovian" tactics is the most disgusting display of a desperation smear campaign I have ever personally had the displeasure to witness. Sean Smith should be run out of the party.

Lieberman has repeatedly accused Lamont of a smear campaign -- without citing any evidence. If smearing is such an evil, then Lieberman is the king of the underworld tonight.

The hacking story is still up on CNN, as well as Sean Smith's lack of denial by saying "Are you kidding?"...

It does seem pretty desperate. The $15/month they spent on hosting a website for a senate campaign...I spend more than that every month on bottled water.

Traditional media and the Lieberman campaign are both jokes, in bed together, and we will see what the evening holds for both of them.

Hi from Hermosa Beach California. I've had great fun lurking here for the past few weeks.

I know KOS said he has the "definitive" explanation for what occurred with Lieberman's site. Kos has a PLAUSIBLE theory but it isn't known for certain it was an innocent traffic crash so to say the event was "100% debunked" is a bit reckless.

Still, I believe it was a traffic crash, and that pathetic, desperate Lieberman owes SENATOR Lamont an apology for making hay out of nothing, before he the facts were known.

Smith is too slick (though not too slimey) to commit a crime (0.00 / 0)

He didn't actually report a crime. He simply asked the AG and the Feds to investigate if there was a crime committed.

Did he lie about what happened? No doubt. Did he falsely report a crime? Not likely. Did he take a campaign screw-up and turn it into a media frenzy? Damn straight. Will he do it again before November? In a heartbeat. And multiple times.
