Two Labor Votes To Watch For Today

by: BranfordBoy

Tue Jun 27, 2006 at 13:54:42 PM EDT

Amid all the hoopla at the big union shindig at the Omni, there are two votes of interest to watch out for. One is the vote to endorse Joe Lieberman. No suspense there. That one's in the bag.

The other vote is obver whether that endorsement will be for the August primary only, or whether it will extend to November, regardless of the primary results. And the outcome of that one is not so cut and dried.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Despite a lot of pressure from the Lieberman campaign, CT labor did not give Joe Lieberman a blank check for their support in the event he becomes a "petitioning candidate."

Their endorsement is ONLY for the primary. When he loses, it's back to the drawing board.

This is a big defeat for the DC power brokers and a moral victory for the Lamont campaign (not to mention the people of Connecticut).

Labor for Lieberman? (0.00 / 0)
I saw the post that the AFL endorsed Bush's favorite democrat...good thing my stomach was empty...If the AFl endorsed Joementum then its no wonder they have lost alot political clout over the last 30 years.

Olson can endorse whomever he wishes and the union leaders as well..id bet not that many rank and file folks will support Lieberman no matter what line he is on.

Wonder how long Olsen will be able to tolerate the 3 Stooges running Lieberman's campaign? (0.00 / 0)
Sean Smith, the Press Secretary, and Holy Joe himself.

Olsen deserves to get ulcers during this campaign for delivering the AFL-CIO to Lieberman.

I go my own way (0.00 / 0)
This is one union member that votes not according to what union leaders think, but to what I think. Touting endorsements are to me nothing more then namedropping.

There are NO UNION VOLUNTEERS (4.00 / 1)
Working in Liebermans New Haven campaign office only Snotnosed Lieberyouth who are all collecting Paychecks and high school or college credits. This is NOT how anyone can win.

Poor Lieberman has to hire the kids of all the Corperste donors he's been dependent on and 99.9% of them are totally useless.

I'm sitting on $4million in cash.

I decide to run independent.

I offer $10.00 for each valid signature collected.

I'll be on the ballot in 3 days.

That's Liebermans thinking, and in pure numbers, he's 100% correct. Then he will have $3MM to play with (plus all the corporate whoring he can do) to attack Lamont with lies for the next three months.

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

No doubt Lieberman can buy 7500 signatures (0.00 / 0)
He can do it in one day if neccasary but he  still can't win in Nov.

His problem is the more the people of CT see and hear him the more they reject him.

If he goes Indy I think he'll come in Third.
