Not only do we lose that blight known as Joe Lieberman, but we get a competent and compassionate leader in Senator Chris Murphy! It's a Win-Win!

Thank you so much, Ned Lamont! (4.00 / 2)

It was Ned Lamont's courageous campaign that paved the way for a Democratic congress to take control in 2006, the Democrats to take the Senate, and also smoothed the path for Barack Obama to become president.  It was Ned Lamont who showed the country that Democrats need not be afraid of calling for an end to the senseless war in Iraq, and that was where the country was.  And it was Ned Lamont's courageous campaign that revealed Joe Lieberman for the Fox News hack that he really was, and created the opportunity for Chris Murphy to become Senator Murphy today.

It was all thanks to private citizen Lamont who stood up against the war and stood up against Lieberman when no one else had the guts to.  And we thank him for his tremendous public service.

My favorite moments of the DumpJoe movement... (4.00 / 1)

1) Watching Ned Lamont overcome a 59 pt deficit to defeat Lieberman by 4 in the 2006 Democratic Primary.

2) Watching ctkeith have fun riding the Kiss float in Willimantic's July 4th Boombox Parade.

3) Bill Hillsman's commercials that turned an underdog the naysayers laughed at into a winner in the Dem primary.

Ned Who? (4.00 / 2)

Watching and learning and working with Murphy and Swan and Tina and Rose and Liz D-D and the Talbots and Mahoney and so many others, together assembling a statewide vote-counting infrastructure in the early days of the campaign (April/May).

Feeling the nascent energy develop and watching waves of momentum wash across the state, and ripple across the country in such a short time.

Like right before the May convention, that DTC meeting in Glastonbury where 100 plus people gathered at the Senior Center to meet Ned for the first time. Amazing.  

I bet Glastonbury DTC hasn't seen that many people at its last five meetings combined. Ned created and captured the palpable excitement of a rare solar event; a meteoric,  tangible sensation, bright with by political optimism,  tailed by change. We were doing something that mattered, introducing chance into a rigged game, inviting and daring people to join a progressive moment.

Duplicate those features and you will win every race.

Maybe we ought to thank Lieberman for so galvanizing a people towards a single goal. On second thought, not.

it was Feb 2005 and Ed Anderson and I had arranged a lunch with Tom Swan and Rick Malita where we asked,no begged,them to start looking for someone to run against Lieberman in a primary.Ed and I attempted to convince them,as we had already convinced ourselves, our Dump Joe "movement" ( which consisted of Ed and I) would have so weakened Lieberman by the time of the primary that it would be a walk in the park to beat him.

Yes,we were dillusional,LMAO!!

The Move-On meeting/endorsement in New Haven(?) (0.00 / 0)

I remember arriving early to help put signs together etc. Everyone wondering if the room would look empty with not enough people showing up. And then the place was packed and overflowing standing room only!!!

The Waterbury parade where we could not have signs and tee-shirts in the parade. So we went along the sides giving out Lamont bumper stickers, just ahead of Joe. He was shaking hands with people and they all had Lamont bumper stickers...and Joe was shaking his finger at my wife for doing that!!!

And Yesterday in Washington congratulating Chris Murphy, completing the job we started.
