Democrat Lisa Romano trails Republican Mitch Bolinsky by 48 votes

Seems like we have a recount in Newtown...from the SOTS office:

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today announced that a recount will be conducted in 106th General Assembly district in Newtown following yesterday's general election in which Republican Mitch Bolinsky received 5,748 votes compared to 5,700 votes received by Democrat Lisa Romano - according to preliminary figures reported to the Secretary of the State's office by the Newtown Head Moderator.

"After many closely contested races, we only have one recount taking place for any results in Connecticut following yesterday's high turnout presidential election," said Secretary Merrill, Connecticut's chief elections official.  "Since the margin between the candidates in the 106th General Assembly District was within 0.5% of the total votes cast, the Newtown Town Clerk must now notify the Registrars of Voters about the impending recount, which must be completed within 5 business days of the election.  This close vote only serves as a good reminder why it is so important that everyone who is eligible to vote registers and makes their voice heard on Election Day by casting a ballot, since every vote truly does matter.  I am confident that the Registrars of Voters in Newtown will successfully and accurately conduct this recount and get the official results to my office by next Wednesday's deadline."

According to state law, automatic "close vote" recounts are triggered by election results where the margin for a particular seat is either within 0.5% of the total votes cast or within 20 votes.  There are also discrepancy recounts that can be called for by election moderators if there is a discrepancy in the results.  Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes 9-311 and 9-311a, recounts are to be conducted by election moderators and supervised by Registrars of Voters.  Recounts for the 2012 general election must be completed by Wednesday November 14, 2012.

To err is human, to recount in Connecticut takes a court order (0.00 / 0)
In the statute it is called a recanvass not a recount. A recount takes a court order. You will not find close vote recount in the law:

http://www.cga.ct.gov/current/...

Ironically the whole point in recanvasses and recounts is accuracy.

because Connecticut voters count: http://www.CTVotersCount.org
