Bass is a lot fairer to Joe Lieberman than he probably deserves but I'll defer to Bass on that score that Joe is indeed a nice guy. I have my doubts.

Paul Bass ends with:

Finally, it's true that Joe Lieberman is a genuinely nice person, a decent man. That has nothing to do with his record, with masquerading as a Connecticut Democrat while enlisting in a Republican assault on Americans' bedrock freedoms and norms of social justice. Good people do awful things when power tempts.

I didn't see the op-ed piece until it showed up on Kos and Atrios. I spent all morning responding to some Lieberman/Bush supporter from the CT Post. Point for point. They had better print it now. It says basically the same thing. Damn.
