Above:
From a poster Sen. Frank Lautenberg used as a visual aid 4/28/04 on the Senate floor in his famous defense of his fellow Senator John Kerry entitled "An Illustrated Guide to Chickenhawks."

With a story in today's NY Times which further casts doubt on the validity of the Swift Boaters allegations smears against Senator John Kerry..

Kerry Pressing Swift Boat Case Long After Loss

...I'm reminded that Kerry was one of the very few of his generation of politicians (along with John McCain and Wesley Clark) who actually served in Vietnam. It's remarkable how many of these men who ran for President in 2004 either got student or medical deferments (Dean, Kucinich, Cheney) or had strings pulled to let them into the National Guard (Bush, Gephardt). The draft ended before John Edwards was called upon.

And of Joe Lieberman, that venerable chickenhawk we love to hate, can there be any doubt of his chosen route?

Joseph I. Lieberman, 61 Received student deferments from 1961 through 1967 while at Yale and Yale Law School. After finishing law school, received a parental deferment with his wife pregnant.

Scarce :: Chickenhawk
Now, it's my understanding that Johnson abolished these parental deferments so that would mean both Joe Lieberman and Dick Cheney would have been among the last to receive one. But they were only good for six months. So how did Joe Lieberman escape future military service?

Joe would have been 25 or 26 then, with the maximum draft age during that period 26, I think, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have anymore information to clear this up? I realize it's probably been covered ad nauseum after 2004 but I'd still like to see a source.

Poll
Did someone pull strings for Joe?
No, he worked the system, like Dick Cheney.
Yes, can there be any doubt?

WOW (0.00 / 0)
Lieberman Even Beat Cheney in the number of deferments.

You gotta wonder,if Cheney and Lieberman went to the extreme of "knocking up"(Sorry, thats what we called it in the 60's) their wives to avoid serving how they find it so easy to send others kids.

You still proud of tour Daddy,Matt? How about you Rebbecca?

We all understand it pays well ( a salary that works out to over $100,000 a yr is what they recieved for their campaign work in 04 from daddy dearest) to  be a child of Lieberman but one has to ask,"How did they Sleep?"

great pic, here's another. (0.00 / 0)
This is another cartoon of a chickenhawk, I think I stole this from Harper's a few months back.  It was one of the images that Franken Lautenberg hauled to the Senate floor when people started knocking on Kerry during the campaign.

I should have included that in the pic above. Thanks for reminding me.

You Learn Something (distasteful) Every Day.

So Joementum had no momentum when it came to fighting in Vietnam, the war of his generation.

I am not suprised, but I didn't know.

Do Jews share a belief in hell with the likes of the Bushiter?

If so there is plenty of magma enemas for all!

Lefty!
