Quinnipiac: Malloy 45 Foley 42

Not much to say about this except it echoes what Quinnipiac says about the Senate race: enthusiasm gap and disaffected, angry voters going for the gop'er, "too close to call", "gender gap", "upcoming debates could be decisive". Yadda yadda yadda.

Fueled by a shift among independent Connecticut likely voters, Republican candidate for governor Tom Foley now has 42 percent to Democrat Dan Malloy's 45 percent, making the race too close to call, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

This compares to a 50 - 41 percent Malloy lead in a September 15 likely voter survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll, conducted by live interviewers.

In today's survey, 12 percent of likely voters are undecided and 22 percent of voters who name a candidate say they could change their mind by Election Day. Malloy leads 86 - 8 percent among Democrats. Foley leads 82 - 9 percent among Republicans. Independent voters shift from a 42 - 42 percent split September 15 to 44 - 38 percent for Foley today. Women back the Democrat 52 - 34 percent while men back the Republican 49 - 38 percent.

Am I wrong?  Don't registered Democrats in CT outnumber registered GOPs 2 to 1?  So 78% or so of Dems is twice 78% or so of GOPs - if they vote with equal turnout percentage.

Again - if the Dems stay on message that the GOP trashed the economy and has prevented any recovery measures SIMPLY TO MAKE OBAMA LOOK BAD, it should get people out to vote.

Do we really want them blocking more programs that look beyond petty politics to the big picture of moving us forward as a nation?

And they really should capitalize on the GOP stated goals of deregulation of Wall Street and Big Oil, dismantling of Social Security and health care and their blocking of Unemployment extensions.

It shouldn't even be close.

I think Adam Green on Lawrence O'Donnell's show last night said it best (0.00 / 0)
about the source of the enthusiasm gap -- Obama was willing to hold a public rally for HCR in Kucinich's district to pressure Kucinich to change his mind when Kucinich threatened to withhold his vote on HCR, but Obama would not do the same in the districts or states of those who fought against the public option or Medicare for All, like Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.

I find it really hard to convince the unenthusiastic progressives to vote Democratic in a 2 month period when the Obama Admin has been betraying these progressives for 22 months.
