CT 05: Get off the cell phone Sam!

As I was on my way to cover Ken Krayeske's campaign kick-off in Hartford, on I-84, I'm 99.9999999999 percent sure I drove by 5th district GOP candidate Sam Caligiuri...who just happened to be talking on his cell phone.

You would think that a state senator who aspires to be a congressman would obey state laws regarding cell phone use in motor vehicles.

This is excellent. Good Work on the fast capture!

Hey Sam, do what I finally did... (4.00 / 3)
Buy a Jawbone!
http://www.jawbone.com/products

Had plenty of BlueTooth devices over the years, and most of them sucked, which meant I often didn't use them...

Finally a year ago, on a friend's insistence, I bought a "Jawbone" device, which has built in noise cancellation technology. Basically I can be talking on my ear piece with a car window rolled down, stereo turned up, or an ambulance screaming by, -- and the background noise gets eliminated!

So my advice to anyone and everyone is buy a Jawbone device and be content that the price of it is left than the potential ticket.

After going through several Motorola Bluetooths, I finally invested in a Jawbone on BF's recommendation.

It's amazing. I can use while driving the BF's convertible and still hear stuff. And I love that it has an icon on my iPhone that shows how much battery is left. Used to drive me crazy when my old Bluetooth would just die in the middle of a trip.

Another vote for Jawbone (0.00 / 0)
Got one a couple years ago and the thing is incredible. Maybe a little pricier than other headsets but worth it. When I got mine people were selling surplus units on eBay for about 50% less than retail.

Hey Senator (4.00 / 2)
Obviously Sam was not traveling thru Newtown...Senator u can borrow mine for the campaign...I have extra bluetooths just in case  :)

Driving... by himself!? (0.00 / 0)
It struck me a little surprising that a candidate for national office is still driving himself around this late in the game - partially for the very reason he's being criticized hence. Even Rob Simmons' Non-Campaign had his wife or daughter drive him to places. The sad life of a candidate means you always need to be talking to someone, driving (& state cell phone laws) be damned.

Then again, not anyone gets those rad State Senate license plates to roll with.

distracted driving (4.00 / 1)
Just curious - does the ban on making phone calls or texting while driving also forbid taking pictures while driving?

No recharging (0.00 / 0)
I've used the Plantronics M175 ever since I was ticketed (while talking to the police which is supposedly an exempt call in New York) by NYC cops in December of 2002.

It makes it a lot easier to drink coffee and smoke while driving and talking on the phone.
