Blumie Still Beating McSteroids, Doug Schwartz Mourns

by: BranfordBoy

Wed Aug 04, 2010 at 09:00:52 AM EDT

The latest Q Poll is out. It reveals (surprise, surprise) that Linda McSteroids millions have bought her a few percentage points in the poll.

But Q Poll honcho Doug Schwartz, PhD (Piled Higher & Deeper) thinks he sees Blumenpocalypse on the horizon.

Still, Schwartz does us a service with this tidbit:

Looking at McMahon and Simmons, Republican voters say:

   * 41 - 33 percent that McMahon has the best character and personality to be a U.S. Senator;
   * 39 - 33 percent that Simmons is most qualified to be a Senator;
   * 42 - 27 percent that they most agree with McMahon on key issues;
   * 45 - 25 percent that they most agree with McMahon's positions on the economy and jobs;
   * 54 - 25 percent that McMahon is best able to win the general election.

Yikes! There's a flesh-eating bacteria loose on Connecticut's body politic!

And Schwartz, who seems to be lobbying for a future with the WWF, throws in a touch of humor:

"The McMahon-Blumenthal Senate race in Connecticut could be a real smackdown, as the Republican has the money and momentum, cutting into Blumenthal's lead month to month," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD.

Now if only he could only get Linda to campaign in a spandex body suit, she'd have this thing won.

Oh, and if you'd like to contribute to the Blumenthal campaign . . .

As for independents, two weeks ago Doug had Blumenthal up twenty (20) among them. Now McMahon is leading. Yeah, sure Doug. Whatever.

The ONY way there could have been a 20 point swing in Independents (0.00 / 0)
in 2 weeks(with NO major negative news) is if the pollster fixed his poll to get those results.

Of course Cts Press corpse hasn't and won't even question the results because stenography requires never asking questions.

Why does this matter before the primary? (0.00 / 0)
Unless it's Doug that wants McSteroids to win the primary, because this only helps her against her GOP opponents.  It doesn't do a thing for the general election as Blumenthal isn't even in campaign mode yet.

Why not poll Linda against Obama in 2012 while yer at it, Dougie?

If Blumenthal is not in campaign mode yet... (0.00 / 0)
Then he really should be.

The Corporate Money Factor in the November Midterm Election

With the midterm elections looming closer, those of you who live in areas with especially competitive races as I do are starting to see the first skirmishes in what will become an all-out ad war by September. This will be the nastiest, all-out, highest-spending off-year election in American history.

The GOP is banking (literally) that they will cripple the Obama Presidency, perhaps even dealing enough of a blow to make Barack Obama a one-term President.  Meanwhile the Democrats are merely hoping to hold serve (been watching too much tennis) preventing the usual midterm leakage that often happens in the first term of a new Presidency. Their fears have a strong basis in fact.

A particularly long essay from last month that talks about the quality of money spent (early on - and it does not relate only to incumbents, IMHO) as well as the vast quantities pouring in from corporations for the media messaging battlegrounds.

He has a lot more than just McMahon's millions to deal with and he needs to be defining what he is up against now.

Seriously! The whole "could be a real smackdown" is straight from Linda's script. Another reason not to trust pollsters...

Some pollsters I respect... (4.00 / 2)
...the ones who simply report the numbers and leave the analysis and stupid comments to the pundits.

I've said this at least a million times (MOE: 99.9987%) that Dougie is a guy who luvs the spotlight, and he'll dance as much as he can to keep it upon him!

Just wait to hear his deep prognostications from tomorrow's governor's poll.  Hey Doug, here's a suggestion - deliver the numbers and drop the bullshit!

Guess I don't watch enough high-class television. Thanks for the correction, ChanceKell.

Didn't want to do a disservice to the REAL WWF (0.00 / 0)
In my younger years, I was a fan of the newly-named WWE after the World Wildlife Federation sued the World Wrestling Federation for international copyright infringement.

Fun fact: The company officially made it's first re-branded appearance as World Wrestling Entertainment during the live Raw show at the Hartford Civic Center.

His polls (0.00 / 0)
Seem to include way too much commentary lately.  Who can be trusted in the polling industry now?
