CT GOV: Malloy unveils 12 point jobs plan

Stating that there is no economic development policy in Connecticut, today in Danbury, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy unveiled his 12 point plan for job creation in the state.

From earlier today, here's video footage of Malloy's presser.

In response to Malloy's presentation, Ned Lamont issued the following statement:

Job creation is the most important issue to Connecticut families in this economy.  Back in March, I introduced a detailed plan to create jobs and grow our economy, and that will be my top priority as Connecticut's next governor.

"It's now June, and I'm glad to see Dan coming forward with an outline of his ideas for job creation. But it seems like career politicians are always presenting 'roadmaps' or calling for study-groups.  Connecticut needs a governor who thinks outside the Hartford mindset, someone with real-world business experience who knows what our small businesses need to start growing and hiring again.

What are your thoughts on Malloy's plan. Are the details of his plan innovative or is what Malloy proposing nothing new?

Malloy's plan based on experience (4.00 / 2)
The Malloy plan is an extension of the steps he used to grow jobs and businesses in Stamford for fourteen years.  Based on his success in Stamford, Malloy is confident that he will be able to translate that effort to a statewide level.  He was an effective advocate for Stamford and there is no reason not to believe that he will establish the same atmosphere in Hartford if elected governor.  There is more meat to Malloy's plan than Lamont's. Dan is just introducing to the general public plans that have been on his web site since he announced as a candidate for Governor. Check out http://www.danmalloy.com/policy.

How many of those 5,000 jobs are left? (0.00 / 0)
The New York times reported a few months ago that 7,000 jobs were lost between the Bridgeport and Stamford corridors during the wake of the Wall Street Bubble implosion.  Wonder how many of those jobs were in Stamford.

None (0.00 / 0)
Actually, through 2008 the city lost 1500 jobs under Malloy's tenure. Stats for how many were lost (or gained) in his last year have not yet been released.

The Recession (0.00 / 0)
Means that those numbers are suspect. Seriously, our national economy has been crashing for the past two years. Everywhere lost jobs.

The city has actually been steadily losing jobs since a peak around 2001 (0.00 / 0)
Though the population has been going up!

Response not worthy of Ned (3.00 / 1)
I have been very proud of how the Lamont campaign has not stooped to the  level of personal attacks that Dan Malloy has, but this response is a little too snarky for my taste.

I had the same thought (3.00 / 1)
Referring to Dan as a "career politician" in this way is akin to Malloy referring to Ned as a "Greenwich millionaire".

Career politicians can be good or bad and Greenwich millionaires can be good or bad--but Lamont and Malloy use these terms in a pejorative way.

"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."--James Madison
