From Jonathan Pelto, as seen on Facebook
jonathan pelto

So Democrats - the choice for Lieutenant governor is Kevin Lembo (Connecticut's Health Care Advocate) Vs. Mike Jarjura (Mayor of Waterbury).

Kevin is probably the smartest person to run for statewide office in Connecticut history and an incredible progressive.

Jarjura, a nice guy to be sure, is viciously anti-choice and a board member of the ultra-right wing Family Institute. Their anti-choice, anti-gay rights legislative agenda is headed by the following statement. "There are two ways to protect marriage from liberal interest groups, detached politicians, and activist judges: An amendment to the U.S. Constitution; or an amendment to the Connecticut State Constitution." Pretty much says it all - Click Here

You can find the Jarjura story here - Jarjura to Make a Move for LG, by Kevin Rennie

"The Waterbury veteran should expect questions from active Democrats on his close relationship with disgraced former Governor John G. Rowland, who enjoys a city economic development job created by Jarjura."

Back to Pelto:

This is probably the single most significant and serious developments in the 2010 election cycle.

The Democrats make their choice in three weeks...So delegates what will it be?

"I am not a Blogger...But I play one on the internet."

Will Not Vote (4.00 / 1)
Any Democratic candidate who has Jarjura on their ticket has lost me. I will not work for them, I will not support them, and I will not be casting a vote for Governor in November. A bit harsh? No way. THAT candidate cannot be trusted. THAT candidate is not a Democrat at all. THAT candidate is not for moving CT forward.

ON the other hand, picking Kevin Lembo as a running mate would be just about the strongest move one could make to earn my support. He is an incredibly smart, passionate, articulate, strong-willed advocate and person.

Gov. Candidates don't really choose running mates for general election (0.00 / 0)
In primaries the Lt. Governor and Governor lines are separate, but in the general they're fused. So if Jarjura wins the Lt. Governor primary, he's on the ticket whether the winner of the Governor primary wanted to run with him or not. I'm not sure I'd penalize a Democratic governor candidate in November if that's the case.

We just need to make sure that Kevin Lembo wins the primary. He would make ANY ticket for governor better (by miles and miles). In fact, making sure that Kevin Lembo is the Lt. Governor nominee may be the most important race this year (in light of the alternatives).

true and good point but... (4.00 / 1)
We will see what happens at the Convention and I and everyone else should hold the Gov. candidates accountable for their horse trading and deal-cutting.

Let me be a bit more clear. If a candidate CHOOSES Jarjura...

False choice (0.00 / 0)
The Democratic candidates for Gov,no matter whom that turns out to be,are under no obligation to pick either of these gentleman as their runningmate.
