Here's some reading material...
  • Linda McMahon slams Chris Dodd's financial reform bill before understanding the contents of the proposal.
According to a report Sunday by The New York Times, Dodd’s proposal will include oversight of payday loans. McMahon wouldn’t comment directly on the payday loan issue. “I don’t really want to speak to any particular aspect of his program because I’ve not seen it,” she said.

  • Another week, another Susan Bysiewicz controversy.
The controversial "constituent database" in Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz's office identifies 2,500 people who served as delegates to Democratic Party nominating conventions in recent years— potentially useful information to Bysiewicz in her candidacy for the Democratic state attorney general's nomination. In addition, Bysiewicz's taxpayer-funded database contains no such information about recent Republican convention delegates, who are in the wrong party to affect Bysiewicz's fortunes. […] A key state legislator — Rep. Michael Lawlor, D-East Haven, judiciary committee co-chairman— said he's seen the database and it looks to him like "a campaign caller list, a list to go down to make calls from" seeking political support or financial contributions. "It's got the notations, and everything you'd need to know."

  • Students from Brookfield organize a counter-protest demonstration against an anti-gay hate-group

  • A closing the achievement gap rally is planned for today on the south grounds of the Capitol before the Education committee's public hearing.

  • UPDATE: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy made an appearance on WVIT's Connecticut Newsmakers and WFSB's Face the State.
What else is happening?

Orwellian Alert- joe lieberman HATES Our Freedoms (0.00 / 0)
Get a load of this!

http://www.examiner.com/x-1842...

Senators McCain and lieberman have introduced the "Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010" :

"The bill asks the President to determine criteria for designating an individual as a "high-value detainee" if he/she: (1) poses a threat of an attack on civilians or civilian facilities within the U.S. or U.S. facilities abroad; (2) poses a threat to U.S. military personnel or U.S. military facilities; (3) potential intelligence value; (4) is a member of al Qaeda or a terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda or (5) such other matters as the President considers appropriate."

Now, that's a loophole you could drive an Abrams through!

"If those in charge of our society...can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves." ~~Howard Zinn

I think we should all back this bill (0.00 / 0)

This should be fun to watch.

Is anyone else concerned about Bysie? (0.00 / 0)
I'm beginning to think that she might cost us the damn AG spot.

How could she not understand that her official office needs to be kept free from any semblance of campaigning? If we were talking about a Republican using an internal database in a like manner, I think we'd all be screaming "Foul!".

The question is who else? Do either Jepsen or Staples have the network and organization to win a statewide race?

And what about Mike Lawlor, whose name I keep hearing. Would he have the moxie to throw his hat into the ring?

Very Concerned (0.00 / 0)
A strong message from the convention may not be enough to dissuade her, and we may not even get such a strong message. If she primaries she will probably win the nomination.

On the other hand, will the Republicans be able to generate enough heat for people to pay attention to this down ticket race?

OH NO,CONCERN TROLLS (0.00 / 0)
I'm sure you two GUYS and the three or four MSM reporters and columnists who haven't gotten their pink slips yet are very CONCERNED but I fully expect Suzy B  will be the Dem nominee for AG and the TOP VOTE GETTER on either ticket come election day 2010.

Okay Keith (0.00 / 0)
Glad to know that you still think Susie is a lock. (didn't you say the same thing about Dodd though?)

Me, I've never had much Susie love, (but I don't have any Susie hate), and while I tried to defend her early in the cycle against the attacks on her experience, this database and mailing list stuff is indefensible. Particularly for an AG candidate.

Do I care that much about it? No, but I wonder if it's enough for Healy & Co. to swipe the damn seat. And like it or not, this is the type of conversation the Party should be having....

Question for Malloy supporters... (0.00 / 0)
Are the 5,000 jobs Malloy claims to have created still around?  If so, what kind of jobs are they?  His web site refers back to a study done in 2006, but none since.  The Stamford papers say Malloy was trying to turn Stamford into Wall Street East and that was OK until the bubble burst in 2008 and claimed 7,000 jobs in the Bridgeport to Stamford corridor.  Out of those 7,000 jobs lost, how many were in the original 5,000 Malloy claims to have created in 2006?

And do you think his friend and fellow DLC'r Mayor Eddie Perez's corruption trial will be a problem for Malloy as the May convention nears?
