CT-Gov: Ned <yawn> Lamont Announces for <snore> Governor

by: BranfordBoy

Tue Feb 16, 2010 at 19:26:24 PM EST

( - promoted by Scarce)

Is the Lamont campaign in trouble before it's barely begun?

The so called "darling of the liberal wing" of the Democratic party made his gubernatorial candidacy official at 11:30 am today.

It is now 7 hours or so later -- that's about 7 months in Internet time -- and there is silence on MyLeftNutmeg and Daily Kos. Not even the usually reliable Connecticut Bob could rouse himself to make the trip to Hartford for the announcement, relying instead on prepared remarks from the campaign. But at least he posted something.

Meanwhile, Stamford millionaire Dannel Malloy has proven himself an able street fighter. Aided and abetted by South Windsor pauper Kevin Rennie, he is getting plenty of attention by pissing all over the American dream of financial and professional success as exemplified by Lamont and his ilk.

If Lamont's supposed hard-core supporters cannot rouse themselves to cheer his announcement, complete with fawning video, how in the wide world of sports is he supposed to win this thing?

UPDATE: Video footage of Lamont's announcement, as well as his Q&A with local reporters are added.

Wait a minute... (4.00 / 2)
That was TODAY?!?  Awwww, dammit!  My gosh-durned alarm clock didn't go off again!

(tee-hee!)

Great speech, I wish I could have been there!

For the record (0.00 / 0)
I was planning on covering the event but I was stuck in Danbury. Wasn't going to risk driving up I-84 through the snow with CT Lauryn in tow.

If it wasn't snowing, I'd have driven the hour and 15 minute drive into Hartford (4.00 / 1)
but I'm glad he's finally in the ring.

Killingly DTC is hosting a Candidates forum on Tuesday, Feb. 23, starting at 7 PM.  It's going to be held in the QVCC auditorium.  It's open to the public.

Ned Lamont, Dan Malloy, Richard Blumenthal and many others will attend.

I'll post more on it later.

I got the e-mail... (0.00 / 0)
I'll be in Stamford on April 30th (arriving at about 8AM at the RR Station and being there until 3-4 before going to New Haven for a Bat Mitzva). If I see Ned he can have $25.00 :-)

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

Cts. Blogging Community is.

There hasn't been a new idea to come from it since 2006.

If there's one thing I can agree with Keith on (0.00 / 0)
It's this.

Hmmm....two bloggers agree CT bloggers haven't done anything new... (4.00 / 3)
So get off your asses and DO something.  Show us how it's done.

Me, I hate whiners.

I'm not a Blogger (4.00 / 3)
I don't have the skills fo it but when the newest and biggest news in Cts Blogesphere is the Ct Mirror and Cts version of the Drudge Report and everyone on the "left" is happy with Joe Liebermans twin (Blumenthal)as our next Senator you'll have to excuse me if I'm less than enthusiastic about Cts blogging relevency.

As far as doing something I think even if you disagree with Ken and I you really can't find 2 people who have any involvement here who have a better record as far as thats concerned.

Sorry I couldn't make it. (0.00 / 0)
We were down to one car that could get through snow.  Planned to go, however.  And excited by Ned's candidacy!!!!

Who Is This "Branford Boy" Anyhow? (4.00 / 2)
And what right does he have to criticize us after disappearing for years himself?

(snark)

I just read Ned's prepared speech that he gave yesterday (0.00 / 0)
Good one!

It was optimistic, supportive of philosophy that government can be helpful to people and a good rallying cry for getting CT out of its economic doldrumns.

I look forward to more policy specifics, but this speech is a great start.  Will view the video and Q&A later.

We were there supporting the next governor of Connecticut. It was a great day. It was nice to see Ned,Annie,Lyndsey, Teddy and Marc. Let's hope he runs a strong campaign.

I just emailed CT Bob about the paid sick day issue (0.00 / 0)
to see if Ned had responded to confirm his position concerning non-payment for employees.

Seems like lots of people are very upset with companies who don't compensate work appropriately, as noted from this recommended diary at DailyKos.com

http://www.dailykos.com/story/...

The Obama administration is upset, too, and they intend to target companies who have issues with respect.

Did I mention I'm also Sprinkles? I'm thinking of contacting the company who hired and fired my son and demand a recommendation letter from the CEO, or I'll out him.

I'd say I'm PMS, but I'm too old.

Remember our last meeting with John Orman? Your wise words gave the CFL party it's focus.
I just hope the FBI and CIA aren't following everything I type now -

OF course they are, Sue (4.00 / 1)
If you're lucky, you've got a state police file, too. Why not FOIA your file from the FBI and see what they give you back?

I was thinking about him earlier this week. Wish he was here. Of Course.
