They Say He Had Terrorist Ties

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

For several years I have noted here and elsewhere how poor the security is at all airports I have gone through. True, the attempted theft of my laptop by security officers happened prior to 2001, so I haven't had that particular problem again. But, on business and otherwise, I travel enough to be discouraged by all airline and airport security measures. US and International.

Totally porous.

That being said, as a resident of MLN and CT, I have to blame Joe Lieberman.

We are asked to believe that a highly privileged young man, with everything to live for, was suddenly seized with a desire to commit suicide as an act of jihad: that he disappeared from his life of ease, on a street lined with Mercedes Benzes and Ferraris, in a fashionable district of London, and traveled to Yemen, where he received what may have been a defective bomb, which was sewn into his underwear by his jihadist trainers. This bomb then went undetected in Amsterdam airport, where the security arrangements are said to be tight (and a personal interview is conducted), and where he was let on a plane headed for the US in spite of explicit warnings given by his own father.

I'm not buying it, and, furthermore, in the context of Haskell's testimony, another narrative seems just as likely: that this was a staged incident, a false flag operation, launched by those who have everything to gain by ramping up the atmosphere of hysteria and fear that regularly precedes America's wars

"If those in charge of our society...can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves." ~~Howard Zinn

Schipol (0.00 / 0)
Now that I think of it, in July 2007, I had a one way flight from Schipol in Amsterdam to Hartford, and I was interrogated for some 15 minutes about why I was travelling one way. I repeated my itinerary - from Birmingham, UK, to Dublin via ferry, for six weeks at Trinity College, by plane to London for three weeks, then by ferry to Netherlands for a few days. They probably thought I was more of a drug smuggler, but it was an extensive interview.

The U.S. hegemon needs a reason to justify the escalation of the war on terror in Yemen, and to claim the oil reserves in Yemen.

Ew! Is that a clip-on? (0.00 / 0)
How gauche!

I won't carry my weapons in ANY tie that can't be secured with a St. Andrew knot, or a half Windsor at the very least!
