With Sen. Chris Dodd sitting in the chair for the vote, tonight the senate agreed to move forward and allow the health care reform bill to come to the floor for debate.
VOTE: 60 vote yea, 39 nay.
After the vote, Senator Dodd released the following statement:
Tonight's vote takes us one step closer to responsible reform that will cut costs, protect patient choice, and guarantee every American access to stable, quality, affordable care," said Dodd. "We will have a full and open debate on this important issue. But tonight it became clear that those who simply want to obstruct any progress and defend the broken status quo simply will not win.
