Holy Mr Media Whore Joe Lieberman, turning down an opportunity to shine under the limelight? I almost spewed when I saw it. At least Rachel's experience validates mine - he doesn't respond to my correspondence. I email him, fax him, snail mail him, call his office. I thought I might get a staffer - but no way - it's an automated menu, 'push one for war, two for labor issues, three for HCR'. At 1st, he wrote back, telling me why his way was better than what I was recommending - but after 2 or 3 letters, he stopped sending them. Maybe I made some list of disgruntled constituents that aren't going to vote for him anyway.  

I refuse to let my pragmatism get in the way of my idealism.

While Joe rarely misses an opportunity to put his mouth and mug shot in the public eye, he knows perfectly well that Rachel would wipe the floor with him.  On FOX, he needn't worry. . . .

As Ann says, could it be that Lieberman is frightened and threatened by someone who is actually very thoughtful and outspoken?  Bloviating....might not snow her?

Lieberman won't appear ANYWHERE where people will challenge him on facts. On Meet the Press they might bring something up a contradiction and then Lieberman will obscure and evade and MTP will let it go. That doesn't happen with Rachel Maddow, she patiently repeats the facts until she gets an on-point response. Honest follow-up questions are kryptonite to Lieberman's superbullshit and he knows it so he'll never appear anywhere where he can be challenged repeatedly on the facts.
