Gov. Rell: "The Computer Ate My Homework!"

by: Connecticut Man1

Thu Oct 22, 2009 at 12:39:52 PM EDT

When you read stuff like this you really don't have to wonder if Dautrich focus group tested this message before she sent it out:

A review of documents provided by the university to The Day also shows that the governor's office did not fully comply with previous requests for public records, leaving out a handful of e-mail responses from Moody to Dautrich, including a message that thanks the professor for his help in crafting Rell's budget speech.

Harris declined to comment on any of the new findings in the UConn documents, but said in an interview this week that the Moody e-mails had been withheld from a reporter inadvertently because the governor's staff had not correctly used the "Find" function in the Outlook e-mail program when complying with The Day's records request.

1st thing: Note to Harris - she wasn't complying with The Day's record request. You know... Kind of like what happens in a "cover-up". A really big part of this story.

2nd thing: Was Dautrich Rell's equivalent of Bush's Brain? Because her excuse is what I might expect to hear from a child. Her messaging is all over the place without his focus group tested waste of taxpayers' money asshattery.

Rell's politics and policies were always marginal. Now her excuses for them are too. (x-posted at ePluribus Media)

And Dautrich is scheduled to be on WNPR AGAIN today! (4.00 / 1)

When will WNPR figure out that they're being extremely unethical and unprofessional?  And when will they realize that they're beginning to function as a local version of Fox News, willing to prostitute the network's reputation in order to continue shilling for Republican Governor Rell?

Again, WNPR is in the midst of a membership drive, and no one should pay a single penny to that station unless and until WNPR starts acting ethically and dumps Dautrich- and Faith Middleton who can't figure out why this is a big deal?

Or, at least, (0.00 / 0)
If they have him on at all they should be devoting copious amounts of time to grilling him on this topic.

RU Old Enough to Remember Rosemary Woods? (4.00 / 1)
She was Nixon's secretary who apparently lied for her boss and said she must have hit the wrong pedal while transcribing some tapes, erasing critical passages.

So when the only emails not found with the "Find" button are embarassing emails, I'd like to know exactly HOW the find function was used.  For example, the default find in my Outlook asks for a text string and defaults to looking in the inbox. An email SENT by Rell's office would not show up that way. So e.g. if all emails that came later were all SENT emails, maybe it's true.

If there is no logical way either set of emails could have been either searched or omitted from a search, then.... I'm not so sure this is not a RWoods gambit.

There is an advanced find mode, too. However, it is far more than just pushing a find button, so I tend to think the issue was not the advanced mode. Come to think of it, is it possible to get a job in an office where one spends any time fulfilling FOI requests and get past the first week
without knowing how to do an email search?

Is it possible to work in ANY office today and nothave thisultra basic skill?

About as possible as....a highly seasoned and experienced secretary "accidentially" hitting the wrong foot pedal during transcription, and not noticing it for a full 20 minutes.

Doing email searches should be (0.00 / 0)
routine by now for most political offices. I gotta agree with you, it makes zero sense unless you were being very purposeful in your intended incompetence.
