CT-SEN: Obama Coming To CT for Dodd

by: tparty

Thu Oct 01, 2009 at 15:59:31 PM EDT

From a press release:

OBAMA TO CONNECTICUT FOR DODD FUNDRAISER

Hartford, CT - President Barack Obama will visit Connecticut on Friday, October 23 for an evening fundraiser on behalf of Senator Chris Dodd. Additional details about the event will be forthcoming.

"As President Obama has said in the past, Senator Dodd's record is an incredibly strong one on behalf of the people of Connecticut and this country, and he's continuing to work with the President to help reform our healthcare system and make sure our financial regulatory rules protect consumers first and foremost," said Dodd Campaign Manager Jay Howser. "Obviously we're extremely grateful that President Obama has taken time out of his busy schedule to campaign on behalf of Senator Dodd, and we're looking forward to a great event."

Joebama! Was Lieberman really Obama's mentor? (0.50 / 2)

Have you always been an idiot? (0.00 / 0)

Nope (0.50 / 2)
And I'm not one now, either.

I suppose there was a time once when a visit from the president might make a real difference in a struggling politician's attempt to get elected. People might think "wow, that one's got the endorsement of the big guy!, i guess I'll cast my vote for him then"... But, it wasn't all that long ago that the chimperor had that shindig up at Henry CFR Kissinger's place in Kent to try to catapult Alan Schlesinger into power, and we all know how that worked out, don't we?

And on that day there was a protest action nearby, about the brutal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. There was also a smattering of folks working to publicize the fact that there are huge questions about what really happened on 9/11, too.

And what has joe's protege done to "change" things? LOL. Hope? Change? LOL.

I would wonder if the upcoming visit might be the kiss of death for Dodd's chances. At least it would be a good protest opportunity.

What he hasn't done (1.00 / 1)
is push 9-11 was an inside job conspiracy bullshit and prove himself every bit as insane as the worst of the teabaggers like you have repeatedly done here.

Who's The "he" You Are Referring To? (0.00 / 0)
You talking about Obama or Dodd? Someone else? I didn't quite get that.

Those other folks doing 9/11 visibility that day in Kent were strangers to me. Just some others that are able to see through the psyop. As time goes by there will only be more. And every time you scoff it only draws more attention.

But this Diary we are adding our comments to isn't about that, and I would rather those who read this to think about the other things I wrote about the coming visit.

Look (0.00 / 0)
Your comments here and in other diaries are basically saying Obama is no different than W which is as  insane your other conspiracy theory garbage.

Get Help, right after you get lost.

[ Parent ]
Exactly! (0.00 / 0)
No different.

Some articles I read show that he has actually expanded some of the questionable bush policies. For the first time in my life, I voted for the guy that actually won, but it's been a huge disappointment to  watch things play out. I try to find the good, but all I can come up with is that he says our spooks don't torture their prisoners anymore.

But, perhaps there is more- would you list the things you think changed for the better? I'd really like to know. Please. Prove I'm wrong with facts instead of just telling me I'm nuts and go get lost.

I see this site as a place where contentious issues can be discussed freely, not as sock-puppetry for establishment pols. In some of my past comments I've brought up such things as Operation Mockingbird, Tavistock, Civil Affairs and Psychological Ops, perception management, etc. Please let this place be free of that.

Congress is Debating a Health care Bill (4.00 / 1)
Our Sec of State met with Iran YESTERDAY and they both agreed to meet again in a month,The President met with 18 top adviser to try and figure out our what our mission is in Afganistan,Troops are being removed from Iraq,Obama signed a credit card reform bill and Democratic chairman Barney Frank and Chris Dodd will introduce legislation within months to reregulate the banking industry,an energy bill is being prepared for early next year and most importantly our President is respected by overseas leaders and is not considered an idiot to be avoided but someone with a great intelect to be courted....... Do you think any of this would  be happening under W or McCain?

I could go on for hours and hours listing changes big and small  but none of it would satisfy your juvinile need for instant gratification and total lack of understanding of how Government works.

After an eight year bindge the entire world is experiencing the worst hangover in history. Noone is happy that change is coming at a slower pace than most would like but the ship of state that is the USA recieved significant damage that almost sunk it and the new Captain can't make drastic turns without the danger of sinking it.Slow and steady is the exact course anyone with a half a brain or more understands is the way you win a marathon.

By the way (0.00 / 0)
the fact that your about my age and Obama was the first time the guy you voted for  President won says more about you than just about any comment you've made here.

You couldn't bring yourself to vote For Clinton in 92 or 96?

I'm guessing ole Ralphy made a fool out of you 4 or 5 times and the only time you're happy is when you're misarable.

But, it wasn't all that long ago that the chimperor had that shindig up at Henry CFR Kissinger's place in Kent to try to catapult Alan Schlesinger into power, and we all know how that worked out, don't we?

Hmm...I recall Bush stumping for David Cappiello in Kent and NOT Alan Schlesinger. Bush supported Lieberman in '06.

At least it was a good opportunity to bring up the protest.

If that's not the "Change" you've been looking for I don't know what the hell is.

Another loser tagged along as well (4.00 / 2)

Don't have time for a diary now, (0.00 / 0)
but this in the Fairfield Weekly and Hartford Advocate  today:

Led by Fairfield University Professor John Orman, a few of those Lieberman critics took over the dormant CFL to continue their anti-Joe crusade.

"That's what it was all about," said Sue Henshaw, a liberal Democrat from Trumbull who was one of Orman's original CFL allies. Henshaw said Orman "signed over" the leadership of the CFL to Mertens with the understanding it would retain its anti-Lieberman character. Orman died in July.

Henshaw is no longer a CFL member (actually, I switched back because I'm pissed).

"It's kind of sad," she said. "It's been kind of a mistake. ... We're Democrats, we certainly shouldn't be running against Dodd."

but Ed's quote is better than mine:

Anderson, another former CFL member, thinks Mertens "went off the deep end" and that the end result could be disastrous for Democratic hopes of keeping control in the U.S. Senate.

"If Dodd wins, it's going to be close," Anderson said. Dodd is in deep political shit, suffering harsh publicity about favorable mortgage deals and his cottage in Ireland.

"There are a certain number of people who are dragged to the polls and don't like any politicians," Anderson said. His worry is that those folks might cast protest votes for Mertens and that could potentially swing the election to a Republican.

Dodd's re-election chances (4.00 / 2)
I don't get it.     so people are pissed that Dodd may have gotten a better deal on his mortgages than they did?     Suck it up---a lot of people had better ones than I did too.

After all that Dodd has done for this State, to suddenly allow a Wrestling Fed dame, or Rob Simmons to suddenly take over this spot and drag us back to the dark side is a disgusting thought.

After reading "Republican Gomorrah" I saw more details about exactly what kind of POS Lieberman has been right along, sucking up to the Extreme Religious Right nut cases, etc.

It is Lieberman we have to make sure does not retain his seat in 2012, even if he switches to Republican which it is rumored he may, not Dodd.

The Senate Ethics committee found nothing wrong with Dodd's deals.        Until he is found guilty of some charge, I could care less.
