Linda McMahon goes on the air in Connecticut

by: Scarce

Thu Sep 24, 2009 at 13:43:25 PM EDT

Linda McMahon has begun airing tv ads in Connecticut in her quest to secure the Republican nomination and take on Chris Dodd for the U.S. Senate next November. When she recently stepped down as the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) it was known her approach would be a little different. And from not bothering to vote, to publicly supporting Democrats from time to time, not to mention her own wrestling antics, her entering an already crowded Republican field guarantees Connecticut politics won't be boring.

don't do that! (0.00 / 0)
My fault, look before you click.

Your "not bothering to vote" link I assumed was an article somewhere, not a link to one of her sites.  Any time you visit a site, you're lending a "vote" to that site's popularity.  That's why I frequent www.newshounds.us - "We watch FOX so you don't have to".

My own idiosyncracy but you should warn people if you link to one of "those" sites.  Thanks

Maybe we should think about this (0.00 / 0)
I can't imagine Dodd not completely demolishing this political lightweight in the general election.

Do we want to focus on her so intently this far out?  I can think of nothing better for the Democrats than for Ms. McMahon to win the Republican nomination.

That ad is ghastly or that ad is fabulous (0.00 / 0)
Huh, you say?

Maybe Linda will check MLN to see how well her first ad is going over.  And maybe we should refrain from making our reactions easy to decipher.

Either the ad's going over like a lead balloon and a new media consultant is the only way she will have a chance --  or it's clever, funny, memorable, and presents the family in a sympathetic light, and she will whup Chris Dodd's behind.

All I am going to do is present two alternatives.  It's up to Linda to intuit which one accurately depicts my take on the ad.

I luv it (0.00 / 0)
..but I've already admitted an excessive bias in such matters.

Give credit where credit is due... (0.00 / 0)
The ad kicks you right in the.... well it's in the ad damnit!

While I can see her taking the GOP nomination with this kind of ad, and especially if she keeps the talk in line with the ad, I don't see her taking out Dodd.

Of course I thought we would be talking about Senator Lamont, so what the hell do I know. :-)

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

>>I can think of nothing better for the Democrats than for Ms. McMahon to win the Republican nomination.

Nor can we.

Why (0.00 / 0)
She couldn't possibly have shorter coattails than Jodi Rell.

Really ACR? (0.00 / 0)
So, in your opinion Linda McMahon has a better chance of winning than Rob Simmons, or any of the others? I'm a bit bewildered to hear that from you. I'd love to hear your reasoning on this.

ACR is agreeing with you that if she gets the R nomination it's good for Democrats.

Of course the way you worded it gives ACR an out if he's accused of Breaking Reagans 11th Commandment.

Ah, that makes sense (0.00 / 0)
I didn't pick that up from the context at first, but you're probably correct.

Just found out (0.00 / 0)
that a certain Senator (who never joined his own political party) will be in Bridgeport at Beardsley School around 3 p.m. today.

Hmmm, could be a photo moment with a certain sunflower.

This Isn't Her Ad (0.00 / 0)
It's a parody folks:

An introduction to wrestling personality and CT Senate candidate Linda McMahon. Parody.

Are you sure??? (0.00 / 0)
What do you mean, Jon?  This is perfectly in line with the quality of communication and effort the GOP is putting forth these days.  Why wouldn't anyone take it seriously, so to speak?

Meh Linda McMahon can't even take care of (0.00 / 0)

What makes her think she can be a Senator?
