Of all of the right wing Republican extremists who came out to unleash their anti-health care hysteria to Congressman Chris Murphy in Simsbury yesterday, this guy takes the cake.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut, which covers nearly one in three state residents, on Monday proposed raising some health insurance policy rates by as much as 32 percent.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and a legal representative of the state's Heathcare Advocate office both argued against the proposal during a daylong hearing before the state Department of Insurance.
Blumenthal called Anthem's request "a rate increase that will be catastrophic, not only for our consumers but for our economy."
Anthem asked the Insurance Department for permission to raise rates by 20 to 32 percent -- averaging 23.4 percent -- beginning Oct. 1.

..Avon or Simsbury I think. I've see him in the grocery store and at our fav sushi place. The only reason why I'm so sure is he exudes corporatool a**hole - it drips off him..

I'd give him an earful about Anthem and their "humanitarian" tactics and exactly WHY WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THAT

I have no problems making a scene at the local market/susi joint to make a point :)

but it took over a month to get approval for the MRI which was needed to diagnose a spinal injection for my slipped disk.

Due to obstinacy, the insurance company first paid for several months of physical therapy (my new gym membership costs $20 a month), to conclude that I needed an injection all along.

The inability to stand for more than three minutes didn't affect their decision.

When you mention 'MRI' to a doctor they can come up with hundreds of reasons why you can't have one right away - I sat next to a cheerleader with three herniated discs who spent months with a chiropractor.

An MRI is the first diagnostic tool for deciding on a treatment course. Epidural and spinal nerve injections are considered the next step for further localization of the involved nerve root. Wish I'd had one a month ago.

But that would have been the most cost effective, pain-free and intelligent thing to do.

I've probably told this story before but..

I had surgery in 2005 for a congenital condition that needed to be corrected. I had the surgery on Friday, and the doctors were in a rush to get me out so I was home Monday. Tuesday my husband picks up the phone, a 'friend' was calling so he propped the phone up under my ear.

it was Anthem demanding payment for a procedure that cost several thousand dollars. I tried to explain that I just had open heart surgery four days prior and I really could not hold the phone properly let alone talk, and the 'agent' told me yes he could see that I had just gotten out of the hospital but I needed to pay up.

WTF?? My chest had been cut open on Friday (quite literally) and these BASTARDS are hounding me about something that as it turned out had been MISCODED??

I've had problems with them since about denials and I had to appeal more times than I can count.

Private insurance is great until you actually have to use it, and from what I can tell, Anthem is particularly suck-tacular and heartless
