Action Needed Right Now on Rell's Veto action

by: jonpelto

Fri Jul 10, 2009 at 14:33:07 PM EDT

(You know what to do... - promoted by ctblogger)

Action needed right now! The Courant is running a very misleading poll about whether Rell was right to veto the healthcare bills:

http://www.courant.com/news/op...

Please take a moment and go to the website right now to vote - you can see from the initial results that their misleading language is confusing to people.

The poll also (0.00 / 0)
splits the votes of those that believe we need health reform into 3, while opponents have one convenient answer.

When the Courant folds, the world may just become a better place.

Will the Courant Endorse Jodi Rell for ReElection? (0.00 / 0)
Yes-as long as she stays ahead in the polls

No-she might choose not to run to benefit the state, but don't betcha health insurance bill

Yes-Courant may not have staff to notice she is not running

No-next downsizing will remove Iditorial Section

Not Sure - Who is this Courant you are talking about?

because Connecticut voters count: http://www.CTVotersCount.org

we showed our muscle (0.00 / 0)
When activists first became aware - as far as I know - of the Courant poll (with its questions stacked in favor of "Yes we love the vetoes" votes), 241 people had voted. Consolidating the responses, the numbers were at:

Rell was right to veto: 52.7%
Rell was wrong to veto: 44.0%

Activists then voted hard, so that at 510 total responses, we had moved the numbers all the way to:

Rell was right to veto: 34.3%
Rell was wrong to veto: 63.9%

Only a half hour later, there was a sudden, huge jump in number of voters, and the vote swung back (I'm guessing word got to Aetna and their entire staff was "urged" to vote, en masse... or Mickey Herbert voted 500 times...) to, at 945 responders:

Rell was right to veto: 54.1%
Rell was wrong to veto: 44.5%

I figured it was over....

The next mooning, the poll was closed.  In all, 2,286 people voted.  And we made a GREAT comeback, to

Rell was right to veto: 50.0%
Rell was wrong to veto: 48.9%
Not sure.  1.1%

I am impressed!!!!
