Dodd Web Video: Making Lobbyists Cry

Here's the full quote in question that an anonymous financial lobbyist gave to Politico earlier this week:

Meanwhile, financial lobbyists are grumbling that it's difficult to get meetings with Dodd - and that the Connecticut Democrat engages with them only through press releases, such as the scorcher sent out last week titled "Dodd slams financial industry for opposing consumer protections."

"No one meets with Dodd. He's not interested in reg reform. He only comes out for the press opportunities," said one industry lobbyist.

Yes, I am sure this nameless finance industry lobbyist decided to feed an anonymous attack to a reporter because he is truly interested in real "reform" of his industry, and saddened that Chris Dodd is not doing more to regulate the industry he represents.

Dodd is right to wear these kinds of disingenuous potshots as a badge of honor. Hopefully he will continue to act in the knowledge that both national policy and his own politics are best served by continuing to be unafraid in standing up to the types of powerful financial interests who have funded his campaigns, but also failed this nation.
